i dont beat my kids but i do spank them and then put them in time out .. twice as effective .. that and i use the angry mom voice .. for some reason it scares the hell out of my oldest son.. but if a kid bites you bite them back.. if they slap you.. slap them back just that simple
    Are you DORK enough?

Violence doesn't solve anything. I do believe that people do sometimes need to experience emotional pain in order to improve their own behaviour, but I feel to purposely inflict that on someone for other reasons isn't right at all. I have never seen a benefit to physical violence either, and it just seems terribly wrong. >_>

I was never injured in the course of discipline and I have to say I think I've turned out pretty well. I know the right way to behave not from being hurt if I did the wrong thing but by seeing the benefits of doing the right thing... and I think that's the best way for everyone to learn. ^_^

"Immigrant parents will beat their kids...you [white people] need to start beating your kids. I'll tell you why: kids now are growing up in a multicultural society and you're gonna have white kids growing up with black kids and brown kids and Asian kids and they're all gonna be hanging out in the playground, you know what I mean? And they're gonna be talking about the ass-whippin they got last night.

Do you want that little white kid to feel left out? Beat that child so that he's not a social outcast!

The kids will be saying 'my dad beat my ass,' and 'my dad beat my ass too!' and the white kid will be like, 'I got sent to my room.'

And they'll be like, 'You've got a room?!'

You need to beat your kids, man."

I'm really shocked that people think like this... Do you think violence towards children in the name of discipline will stop at merely that? Why do we have such child abuse claims? How can we set a universal standard for what violence constitutes discipline and what is abuse and a violation of human rights? Won't it teach children that violence is appropriate?

Yes, I'm actually being serious here, because I feel this is a serious topic.

There are small bitchy children and I agreed that they are spoiled, but slapping them will not solve anything. They need to learn that the attitude won't get them anywhere, but violence isn't the way to do it.

    What Chiza said!!!
Time outs are fine if it's something minor but My bro went off with a stranger and nearly got knocked down by a car for playing on the road...Certain circumstances NEED physical discpline to show just how serious it is.
