I'm a chinese... Well then how to say.... learning chinese is not that simple. Not only four tones but multipiple pronounciation to one character and it is not that easy to write it too.... as well as the multi combination of sounds.

That's y there are so many chinese who gave up on their language....

    a is pronoun as ah
    o is pronoun as orh
    e is pronoun as er
    u is pronoun as wu
    i is pronoun as e
and there is u with the 2 dots at the top of the curve pronouns as yu...

this is the most simple pronoun you need to learn..............
    so still keen on learning?

    hope that isn't confusing. lolz

chinese = hard to write, hard to read, easy to speak.

though there are the 4 tones of pronouciation, besides that, there is nothing else hard to learn about chinese. there is no changing words to make it past/future tense. they merely add 'le' to the verb, which will then mean the action is already done.

its a very easy language to speak, the main problem is the writing and reading. alot of whitenized asians can speak chinese, but cannot write it because they hav forgotten. however reading it is no problem.

lol, i'm basically one of them... i don't want to forget anymore than i already have, but that's not quite possible for me since u can't forget what's not there anymore.

Good luck with learning chinese... Oh yeah, why do u need to learn chinese?

He asked for Cantonese (Guang Zhou Chinese). How good are you? Can you recite a famous 7-verse poem in Chinese for us here?
