Thread: fossile fuel?? what fossil fuel??

i've been thought all my life that fossil fuel came from ancient trees and animals that died, etc etc..you know the drill, i'm sure they thought the same thing to us....but, somehow i just don't think so, and i'm on a quest to find the truth, for me, it just doesn't make sense.....why is it all gathered in one area??(most of oils in those arabs country), why is it so deep underground?? what's the ratio of dead body weight to oil?? say: 10 kg will roughly make 1L crude oil...., i'm not a chemical/biology student so i got no idea what's process involved in making crude oil from dead body.....nor i am a history person so that i know the world map and animal population 1 million years ago or so, can someone enlighten me??

No one knows where fossil fuel comes from-- The assumption is that since its organic its comes from decayed organic matter. Atleast thats the way I understand it. And its not located solely in the middle east its located throughout the world-- However, locally in America we've exhausted a lot of supplies and they haven't exhausted that much.

There is a lot of oil under texas, but its not good enough for petrol (gasoline).

well fuel is not essentially made of animal, he is made of all organics forms, wich includes plants, animals,...
its so deep underground because it can only be produced with some specifics preasure and temperature conditions.
and its gathered in one area because of the permeability of the rocks (they were sediments some million years before)

it's true that fossil fuel is spread around the world, but the majority is in middle east, and they got tons of it...not sure how much left they got, they seems to keep "updating" their reserve based on demand...
yes, it's made from plant as well, but again, why is it deep underground? dinosours skeleton were found less deep than that....which also raise another question....why there's no skeleton near the digging site??
have they tought the wrong thing to us all this time?? that's what i want to know....just like how they said smoking was good for your health a couple of decades ago.....

oil is made from not only animals but plants and any organic thing. which is why its everywhere. things have been living and dying on this planet for almost 2,500,000,000 years. its probably concentrated in certain areas because the continents used to be one giant supercontinent and when it split the concentrated oil masses got separated all around the world like Venezuela and Iraq and Alaska...
