i just recently started reading american comics. i dont know why, but for some reason, i lost my interest in anime and reading manga. i stumbled upon a dcp release while looking for blade of the immortal, and from there started reading comics. now i started reading and so far am reading a couple of different series. ultimate spiderman, ultimates, spidergirl, witchblade, and my favorite y the last man.
anyone know a good comic series i could try?
has anybody here read the comic Y the last man standing? its pretty interesting heres a summary:
When a plague of unknown origin instantly kills every mammal with a Y chromosome, unemployed and unmotivated slacker Yorick Brown suddenly discovers that he is the only male left in a world inhabited solely by women. Accompanied by his mischievous monkey and the mysterious Agent 355, Yorick embarks on a transcontinental journey to find his girlfriend and discover why he is the last man on Earth. But with a gang of feminist extremists and the leader of the Israel Defense Forces hunting him, Yorick's future, as well as that of the human race, may be short-lived.
if you do read comics, what comics are you currently reading? whats good out there that i can try?
On the top of my head, Runaways, Cable & Deadpool, Deadpool, Taskmaster, Agent X, New Avengers, New Thunderbolts, Moon Knight, and Guy Gardner.
Yeah, I know. I'm Marvel's whipping boy. Well, Guy Gardner is the best DC character anyway, so I guess it evens out.
i have read runaways. in fact i just bought and read the first five tradepaperbacks. the story is okay...my main complaint is how they dont trust any adults even spiderman! (my favorite superhero is spiderman by the way).
didnt like how they defeated the knocked out the new avengers in volume 5.
i forgot to mention, im also reading amazing spiderman and ultimate xmen. and am currently trying to get all the issues. id have read new avengers, but i dont know where to get all of it. read some of moonknight, it was okay.
id want to read the original xmen and thunderbolts, but its just too much too get or i dont know where to get all of it.
many. deadpool, spiderman, Xmen, thunderbolts, Agent X, danger girls, New Avengers and so on, ilove comic, and i too have become bored in manga and anime of late, im hanging at borders reading what i can.

Blankets by Craig Thompson - It's one of my all-time favorite books, be it novel or otherwise. This is a must.
V for Vendetta by Alan Moore - Obviously you've heard of the movie. The comic book is amazing.
Demo by Brian Wood - A series of short one-shots. It pretty hit-or-miss, but when it's good, it's very good.
100% by Paul Pope - Pope does some of the most amazing artwork I've ever seen. It's an oddly emotional comic, another must read.
Beautiful Killer by Jimmy Palmiotti - Not amazing story-wise, but Phil Noto, who does the art, is amazing. It's worth it almost for that alone.
Fables by Bill Willingham - It's one of the most consistently good comic books I've read. It's still running, but most of what has been released is already gone TPB.
The Beast Trilogy: Parts 1 & 2 by Enki Bilal - He's my favorite French artist (and apparently a huge inspiration to Tsutomu Nihei, creator of Blame!). Too bad Part 3 hasn't been released yet, but it should be out soon...
The Walking Dead by Robert Kirman (?) - This about sums it up: The greatest zombie story of any medium.
Sandman by Neil Gaiman - Okay, you really have to get his series. It is considered by many to be the greatest comic book ever written. And pretty much a vote for Sandman is a vote for Neil Gaiman, whom, if you see anything by him, you should pick it up. He is my favorite writer.
Black Hole by Charles Burns - Grotesque, disturbing, yet oddly beautiful. This is a must get.
David Boring by Daniel Clowes - This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever read. Most people would recommend Ghost World if you were looking for stuff by Daniel Clowes... Mostly because it was turned into a movie, so people know about it because of that. But I think this really is his best work. A must get.
House of Secrets by Steven T. Seagle - I'm not overly sure why this is on here, but it is pretty damn entertaining, and it pretty consistently had good artwork.
Automatic Kafka by Ashley Wood - Ashley Wood is my favorite comic book artist, period. This book is worth picking up on this merit alone. A must get (or Lore or Popbot... they're all cool).
I'm sorry if this was confusing at all, but all these books are great. Look up their synopses on Amazon or Wikipedia to decide which one you want... but make sure you at least pick up The Sandman and Blankets.
AMERICAN COMICS SUCKS, PERIOD i mean comon, they all either wear underwears or tights and they're drawn badly
im guessing you havent really seen or read much comics. there are a lot of good ones out there, and not all of them are in underwears and tights. i at first did not like comics and liked manga much more. but after a reading a couple of goods one with good story, im starting to like comics more. plus comics are colored. not all comics are about supderheroes you know.
@THD777: i'll be sure to check out blankets and sandman. heard of sandman, but havent really tried it.
Not one of the comics on my list are about superheros... And trust me, they're all well drawn; I'm an art-freak when it comes to comics. So don't bash if you don't know, yo.

oh and the V for Vendetta comic is really good by alan moore
I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
