    See bold.

And this 'you need at least 10 characters' is really annoying.

Eh. Why the fuck not? Except maybe add explainations... I hear that'd be hot.

    1. Sin City - Loved the contrast it gave me on a visual level, with evocative characters and a complete nihilistic world view made me simply love Sin City.

    2. Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai - It's a halfway interesting movie about the mentality of a samurai, but what someone explained to me made me enjoy Ghost Dog a lot more. There are two movies, the obvious one plus the complete metaphorical one were every scene, action, and word have meaning. Tiring but wonderful.

    3. Donnie Darko - Demonic giant bunnies? End of the world? Sign me up. This is what got me interested, it's the ending that kept me interested. I haven't seen the director's cut, because I liked the ambiguity of the original.

    4. Fight Club - Amazing movie that could not be made today (Don't give me that V crap, I didn't see him blowing up American buildings) plus it came with 100% more Brad Pitt.

    5. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - Cool wuxia movie with some great action, wonderful cinematography (eh, close enough), and full storyline.

    Other Gems:

Princess Bride is my favourite kid's movie, so that gets an honourable mention. Secondhand Lions is also superb, which I see as Princess Bride Redux.

Kung Fu Hustle is simply my favourite comedy, as it is nice enough to blend in some amazing kung fu action with a nice punch of comedy.

Eh... Meh. I think that's about it.

Shaolin Soccer had more comedy, though less kung fu action than Kung Fu Hustle.
    I'm rad. You're rad. Let's hug.

Indeed, and I am in the minority of my friends who liked KFH more than SS.

You added something constructive to the thread, Bob. I think you just failed.

I'd call Princess Bride a girl movie rather than kiddie movie I am still addicted to it. The book is awesome and very violent
This would appeal much more to guys in book form I think

Oh dear, it seems I'm might have to go through the whole list now. Here a few I didn't/forgot to include:

Fight Club (obviously) - It never ceases to amazing me how many people really don't "get" this movie. But still, it's a wonderful movie.

American Beauty - Flawless movie. Spacy is amazing. It's just one of those films that makes you step back and look at your life from different angle, under a different light.

Blade Runner - A pioneering film. Ridley Scott is so goddamn amazing.

Evil Dead II - "B" movie madness. The ultimate gore-fest (although not a gory, although much better than Peter Jackson's Dead Alive).

    Grr! There's so many more!

La Femme Nikita, Leon the Professional, I Heart Huckabees, Jaws, Jurassic Park, Rushmore, The Royal Tennenbaums, Seven, The Shining, Dawn of the Dead, Shaun of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Taxi Driver, Trainspotting, Vanilla Sky, Waking Life!

    *head explodes*

I like your style. And I preferred KFH to SS as well. Seemed to be a more well-put-together movie. I guess a few years experience came in pretty handy.

Honestly, I can't think of much else right now. I'm glad Donnie Darko's on there, cos that's definitely near the top. Also, I wanna chuck 2001: A Space Odyssey into the mix. But only if you're in the right mood. And anything by Tim Burton.

Only seen the first 3 Rocky movies. I and II were great, but III sucked balls. The characters all changed so much and became really 2D, and the story somehow managed to be simultaneously be totally unappealing, and also a heavy derivation of the first 2.

And another thing. Sucks how AK's "What I do before sex" thread got closed. I had a word or two to say about that guy. The freak.
