Shinigami and Hollows both draw their power from within, so they have a limit, the strength of their soul. Chad and Orihime's power are based on their emotions, so there are four possibilities here:

    1. Their power is limited in scope, and there just is no way for it to become more powerful after a certain point. Nothing to do with their own limits, but instead those of their skills. There may not be any more ways to combine the Shun Shun Rikku, and Chad's power blasts may only be able to get so strong, he can just fire them forever now.

    2. Their physical and mental limits will equal their spiritual limits, because their spiritual limits are higher than their physical and mental limits. e.g: Chad will top out at a certain point because even a metal body can only withstand so much impact damage. Orihime never develops killing intent, so she cannot use her offense well.

    3. They become like the Hulk. Which is to say, if their emotions are strong enough, they have a hypothetically infinite power limit. I will hate the author if this is true, because it means that their power is variable.

    4. Their powers are internally sourced from their souls, just like the Shinigami. The author just hasn't told us yet.

I hold 4, 2, 3, and then 1 to be likely in that order.

I really like the idea that Ishida will be able to maintain what he did vs. Mayuri. They obviously had to put that scene in for a reason: to show that he can be captain level, even without some serious dragonball-age going on. So that's a likely possibility.

Chad, I don't know about. He hasn't done much so far, and they haven't given any indication that he has any potential to be very strong. He's the one character that I'm worried about (how are they going to make him strong without just magically waving their hands and saying "oh btw chad is all of a sudden uber). But Urahara Kisuke is awesome, so I can rest well, knowing Chad will absorb some of that awesomeness.

As for Inoue being useful because she heals: Well yeah, true, but I can argue that the inn keepers in any RPG are far more important than any main characters. She's useful, but I'd like to see her do something that's not just sitting there for hours, healing people.

I really would like to see Inoue become uber and fight. Her power has some potential for creativity, and I think if she ever does become powerful (captain level? maybe vice captain level), her fights would be pretty sweet. I'm hoping she gets some skills in combat!

Orihime has, as I see it, one feasible method by which she could gain new powers, aside from some sort of stupid "I have killing intent now, fear my dividing shield!!! MWAHAHAHA!" plot device. And that's new combinations of the Shun Shun Rikku. She knows 3 right now, why not an ultimate combination that uses all 6 or something?

I'm also thinking that Kubotite is hinting that Inoue's friend (tasuki?) will get powers also.

Now, I'm not saying I don't like Inoue. In fact, I liked Inou and Chad.

    Before Soul society.

Before they had a little flair, a little personality. Inoue had a cute weirdness that made her character interesting. Chad had a strong sense of reliability with him.

When the Soul Society arc came, so did those traits. Chad is no longer reliable in battle. Inoue now does nothing but worry and get herself in troublesome situations.

Ishda has indeed proved resourceful and useful, but his powers are gone.

None of us doubt him getting his powers back and kicking ass though.

If Tatsuki were to get powers too, wouldn't that also mean Keigo would too, because he was able to see the Ikkaku Arrancar fight?

Tatsuki and even Keigo already have powers. They just haven't been revealed, aren't very strong, and probably never will be used unless they go for another arc after Aizen or we aren't going to be fighting Aizen for another 350 chapters.

I keep trying to think what I would want Bleach to do after Aizen. Get another villain? Do like Digimon and get a new main character?

I don't think that Tatsuki and Keigo will have powers. Yes they can see the shinigamis but i think the cause of that is the fact of so many strong reiatsu concentrated in one point. Also Chad and Inoue have stronger spiritual power than Tatsuki and Keigo.
I don't think Orihime will ever be able to fight because she cares too much for her opponents so because of that there are no killing intent in her attacks.

    It's a delicate matter.

Imo in both cases KT will fail. Some fans will be happy and others will be sad.

    - Option 1
"Ishida Chad and Inoue get powered up and are useful to the new arc"
After their poor performance in SS arc it feels like it's a power up out of nowhere . I mean... they should be stronger than VC or Captains to be able to face the Espada.... after all the hype about SS it will feel like has more and more that shounen-level-advancing feeling (like Ichigo). We know that Ishida has already been upgraded and Inoue and Chad will soon follow. This was the most probable option and an expert manga-reader would have been able to guess this outcome ever since the end of SS arc.

    - Option 2
"They are left in the shadow"
It's not gonna happen because it would be a complete disaster for KT as a mangaka. It would mean that it was even pointless to introduce them and make us feel like they are important. So far they were just filler characters: KT can no longer drag this.

Power up is certain imo. It's a bit crappy to power up characters so much in so little time but it's still better than option 2. The source problem was Ichigo to begin with (not the "useless three"): he gained power too fast and in cheap ways with power up out of nowhere leaving his "friends" far far away...

what about both Inoue and Chad get to be Hollow and Ishida becomes the enermy? (rmb what his father made him swear before helping him to regain his powers)

Well, who knows when Tatsuki and kego realise their power, they can combine powers with Inoue and Chad to fight 4-in-1? lol

i agree with you on both reasons. But i don't think Ichigo is the problem because he was way stronger than them(inoue and chad) to begin with, When i first started watching bleach i thought that inoue, chad would be regular characters, never in my mind that i think they would have powers, and I think that is were the problem started. their powers are out of place to begin with:
Chad(armor thing), Inoue(fairies). I think that is were kubo messed up, he probably wanted to add more characters to the show but he really messed up there. It felt like he just wanted to give them powers.
Ishida is the only one that is different, he is not out of place, being a quincy and all. so his powers are validated. And we know the history between quincy and shinigamis.
