Good stuff. I'm glad Viz got it, it could have been much, much worse.
I just hope it airs in Canada. They've only just shown the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist last week. But Naruto is on, so there's still hope!
Um I don't think you guys knew this but the japanese company that owns Bleach also owns VIZ in Japan and the USA. So VIZ already owned Bleach the anime from the start but people where waiting for video release date. Like they would let another company cash in and rake in all money on a obvious cash cow.
I just hope they get better VA's for bleach then they did for Naruto. And if it's going to be marketed towards teens and the adult swim audience(like it should be)the DVD releases will all be un-cut, and have the Jap audio tracks(unlike Naruto).
First of all, I'd love to see some evidence of this company, Viz of Japan, since TV Tokyo and Studio whatever are listed in the credits, not Viz. The fact that Viz is a mainly North American company(can't remember if they're based in Canada or the US) also leads me to disbelieve this claim.

i doubt that bleach has been licensed.
if bleach had been licensed, why is animesuki still hosting the torrents?
if you check out the viz website it doesn't say anywhere they have the T.V. show. wouldn't they advertise it if they did.
this seems like just a rumor, theres no evidence to back it up.
Ok Shamgi I found the article: So obviously if a japanese company owns VIZ and the rights to the manga they would probably own the rights to the anime as well. Same thing with Bandai or Geneon, they are based in Japan have american offices here in the states. So it's safe to assume they'll be the ones licensing shows in America they already own, unless they decide to sell them to another company but if the show is a hit or potential cash cow why would they?
Here's the thing: the anime industry doesn't really operate exactly as it used to in the early '00s. Bleach is a Viz title (and a major cash cow for them). It doesn't have to be "licensed"; it's owned by Viz's parent company, Shueisha. They don't have to "license" titles. If you see it in Shonen Jump, odds are (unless they decide to license it out to another American company, which does happen from time to time and has happened in the past) Viz will eventually be releasing it on TV and DVD. Now, to be fair, this is a relatively recent phenomenon; Viz is now focusing on developing franchises based on Shonen Jump properties, and obviously, licensing out what's sure to be a smash hit anime would be kind of a mistake.
It would be a fair assumption on your part that Viz currently owns Bleach. There's a small chance that they'll license the title out to someone else, but given their current marketing strategy, I highly doubt that will happen.
They should let the people who dubbed naruto, escaflowne, gundam seed dubbed it, they do pretty good jobs.
You are correct, Viz doesn't need to buy the license. And I will admit, right up front, that I was wrong. However...
There is no Viz of Japan, even though you stated there was. Shueisha, the company that co owns Viz is the one in possession of the license, Not Viz. Viz doesn't own the license.
Simply stating that Viz was also in Japan and that they owned the licence isn't really true, and I was in the right to doubt you. Be clearer or research your stuff next time, so it sounds reasonable instead of crazy.
It's all bullshit , quit getting worried. www.bleach7.com
Don't worry about it. I had to look for that article again but since I read it awhile back I couldn't remember all the details. If it sounded like I meant their was a VIZ in Japan I'm sorry. What I was trying to get across was that who ever owns VIZ also is the japanese company that owns Bleach. But I worded it wrong.
Still I could care less if the show is licensed. To many episodes to buy anyways I think I'll stick with free fan subs.
