Thread: New captains

I dont thinbk there was a topic about that, so lets discuss here - who would be good enough to take a place of missing captains. And thus, my thoughts about vice captains getting promoted

3rd- Kira would be not really bad for this. He isnt complete idiot, but then again - he's too weak to become one... maybe If he did some more training. Aside from him, we know noone who could take this place.

5th- Hinamori just isnt suited for being captain... bah, she isnt even good enough to be vice captain in the first place,

9th- Shuuhei is a good type to become one - strong (still pwned by Yumichika, but heck...), cool and good looking. If he only gets some more strenght, he would be a good man in good place.

Other propositions:
-Isshin - well, he is super strong and probably is ex captain so he wouldnt be bad with it. The only problems are his children - Ichigo wont have problems, since he is adult already, but Karin and Yuzu...
-Urahara - probably the best man to become one, I still dont understand why he hasnt came back. Is it becouse of his shop, Tessai and kids? Or does he wants to be closer to the action?
-Yoruichi - same as Urahara, guess she doesnt want to be one either
-Renji - strenght level enough to become captain, but brain level... still needs to be developed more
-Ikkaku - he refused... too bad
-Ichigo? - I doubt it, maybe later...
-Hanatarou - just kidding with this one ^^

The reason Urahara isn't in Soul Society is because he's exiled. So unless the ban is lifted, he can't go to Soul Society, let alone being a captain(again).

It could very well be someone we've never seen before; new characters are introduced all the time in manga. It's doubtful that Urahara and Yoruichi (who held high positions already in different divisions) would return, and Isshin, whatever his reasons for being on Earth, probably has some outstanding issue that would prevent him from becoming a captain (again?).

Ichigo as a captain would just be pathetic... although he *has* beaten some before...

Ikkaku wants to serve under Zaraki.

Renji might be a good choice, but it's doubtful as to whether he's suited for those divisions.

Kira and Shuuhei could be good options.

If Hinamori ever recovers, she might very well be a good choice for captain if she chooses to be. She might feel betrayed by Aizen and want revenge...? Until she awakens, it'd be hard to tell - and she clearly has some strength, if not the necessary amount. Still, she's proven that she can do crazy things when emotional.

Haha... watch Hanatarou become a captain eventually =P

Hinamori can fight but the fact that she was easily manipulated leaves a lot of doubt. she is also good with demon arts.
-I can't say Rukia because she can't do ban kai yet, at most she is vice-captain level, but she has potential to be stronger since she has more talent than renji.
-We'll probably get introduce to other members of nobles families with recommendation to become captain
-We could also have another genius like Hitsugaya and about Hitsugaya i would like to know how he got discovered.
-Matsumuto is stronger than Kira since she beat him so she could also be a good candidate for captain.
-Yumichika is stronger than he lets on
-also that guy that Ikkaku was fighting against, they were on par with each other at that time
-all the other vicecaptains that come to mind got beat real easy by Ichigo

Yumichika is presumbably less strong than Ikkaku, however. I don't think he has Ban Kai.

Matsumoto..... would probably have men lining up at her doorstep (figuratively) to join her division if she became a captain. She's probably pretty strong, yeah, but there *is* the question of division. Not everyone belongs in any division.

The only doubt about Hinamori's talents are in her social/mental abilities - she trusted Aizen too much and is now devastated. She may have been easily manipulated but that's not a question of physical strength. Besides, we haven't seen her awake yet, have we?

the present vice-captains of soul society aren't even that powerful, one one vice-captain has obtained ban-kai, which is renji, but still he doesn't know how to use it well... i'm guessing the author is going to introduce new captains.,

It would not be good to introduce new captain-level shinigami at this point in the storyline. The cast will be top-heavy with musclemen and femme fatales. I believe that they will advance Renji; he has the strength and the willpower, and the administrative abilities will come with experience. Shuuhei also appears to have the force of character and level-headedness that is needed for a leader, and he's probably stronger than many of the other vice-captains such as Kira.

However, only an idiot would choose either Kira or Hinamori as a leader. Kira would collapse if someone raised their voice at him, he's a nervous wreck, and weak to boot. Hinamori is an emotional wreck who is also too weak-willed and gullible.

About bringing in some of the exiled captains... Even if they decided to lift the ban, we see that Urahara and Yoruichi would only be able to fullly utilise their talents as the heads of their former divisions, both of which still have leaders. And I'm not even going to talk about Isshin. Would you want Isshin as your captain? No? I thought so.

The thing is, the divisions don't need captains. SS is shortly going to be in a state of war. Martial law will probably be declared. Raising captains in that situation, captains that could cause conflicts for their division, would be unthinkable. As of now, I would suggest that everyone stay right where they are. Let Shuuhei lead his division, occasionally with another captain backing them up. Have the third seat of the fifth division handle things, and bring in Renji or Ikakku or a captain to lead them into battle if necessary. Have Kira take care of the paperwork for the third division, and have his third seat handle fighting, with backup if necessary.

-SS is indeed a state of war but it will still be good to assign new captains, because what about all the three divisions with no leadership. they need a leader to reorganize things.
-I still don't think that SS knows about Isshin, it appears even Rukia doesn't know, if Hitsugaya meets him we might get a reaction but from what it looks they haven noticed anything. Because if I was them I would start questionning the fact that Ichigo has Shinigami powers of his own. I mean how come nobody appeared to have noticed that.It is clear as day that Rukia got her powers back so how come Ichigo is still a shinigami.

In the best of situations, it takes a while for a leader to settle in, much longer than it takes for a follower to adjust. The leader has to win the confidence and support of his men, and they have to trust him. Conflicts will inevitably arise as people transfer out of one division or another. SS is moving at a breakneck pace, they don't have time for a new captain to invite his subordinates out for a round of drinks. If it's really that crucial to have a captain, they'll probably temporarily reassign the shinigami from the three divisions, or at least the fifth and probably the third. My point is that the only difference between a captain and a vice-captain is name and power; as a leader, they are exactly the same. The same difference occurs between the third seat and the VC.

They would have started questioning when he got to SS, because Byakuya supposedly rendered him impotent. They knew he had high spirit power of his own; that much would have been obvious from Rukia's testimony, and I think they know as much as Urahara, so they know he has a chance of regaining his power. After all, anyone with reiatsu is a potential shinigami.

About Isshin, well, Rukia and Hitsugaya are not that old. He might have left before they joined, or changed his name, or any one of the things that have been discussed fifty times. But potentially he is a captain candidate, though I shudder at the thought of him being selected.
