    Default Ichigo's mom

    Is she a shinigami? I remember Grand Fisher saying the reason he couldn't beat Ichigo was because he was "pure-blood". It wouldn't make sense if just his dad was a shinigami, or he'd be "half blood".

    She'd be a piss poor shinigami if grand fisher killed her, at least on the level of the others.

    Besides, she's dead. It doesn't even really matter, unless KT brings it up.

    If she was a shinigami that'd be that she would've seen that hollow before ichigo did, or right after.

    Yes, but presumebly Isshin could see the fish-faced hollow that was killing his family in the very first chapter, Ichigo's parents work in very mysterious ways (or possibly they work for Urahara, who works in very mysterious ways). In addition, the way she reacted suggets that she could see grand fisher, if she had simply been afraid of Ichigo falling in the river she would not have jumped on him in the way that she did and almost certeinly would not have provided so good a shield as she did.
    Anyway, back on subject, it is my beleif that Ichigo's mother will probably have some relevence to the plot eventuelly, and almost certeinly turn out to be some kind of Shinigami/Spirit/hollow/whatever. Personally I'm betting on more of a hollow connection than a Shinigami one, I'm not exactly sure why but it just feels right...

    P.S - This has probably been mentioned before, but it occured to me as I wrote the post that Isshin's non-reaction to the brutal massacaring of his family was extremely odd, just as it was an extreme coincidence that a Shinigami natrually inclined to help Ichigo (due to his similarity to ?Shiba?) would happen to turn up at the same time. The same, to a lesser extent, is true of Ishida. After all, what are the odds of the last Qunicy being in the same class as a natrually-gifted freelance-Shinigami? This suggests to me that all the incidents from Ichigo's meeting with Rukia to her abduction (and possibly beyond) were manipulated by, possibly even planned ahead by Urahara, Yourichi, Isshin and maybe Ishida's father with the aim of accelerating and and shaping Ichigo and Ishida's growth, strength and alligences.
    Essentially (and ignoring Ishida), this would mean that Ichigo was a living weapon shaped by Urahara . If Urahara went to all the effort of making a weapon then that implies that there is a reason for making one, namely that there is an enemy to use it against, in this case Aizen. However, it has taken Ichigo at least 15 years to get to where he is, and conveniently he happened to reach his high level of ability at about the time that Aizen came out and started a war. Also conveniently, circumstances have made Ichigo Aizen's enemy. Who'd have thougth it, 'eh...
    All of this considered, the theorey I am proposing has 3 major points;
    1) Urahara has known about Aizen for a long time, and has been preparing for it for just as long.
    2)Urahara is opposed to Aizen, but couldn't do anything about it when in SS as there was no real evidence, thus the reason for fleeing.
    3) Almost all of Ichigo's life during the series has been manipulated by Urahara, possibly with the help of Isshin, Yourichi and Ishida's father (Ryuuken?), with the central aim of making him a weapon with which to fight against Aizen.

    Wow that was a long P.S. I'm sorry to say that I've thought very little of this through and there may well be massive holes or assumptions in my theorey. If anyone thinks its worth talking about then tell me and I'll make a thread for it.

    Ishida has already gotten over his personal reasons for hating Shinigami, and there's no better evidence of that then sparing the life of the one who killed his grandfather. As to his father, he doesn't seem to hate them personally as he doesn't consider himself a quincy, his motives for keeping Ishida away are more than likely driven by some other idea

    and yet i think that he had at least considered himself a quincy at one point in his life(he has quincy abilities, and they are pretty strong), and during that time, he might have had hatred for shinigami, which would linger even tho he doesnt consider himself a quincy anymore. He might also not like the shinigami for the same reason that isida didnt like them in the beginning(death of grandfather).
