The one time attack of the Shinigami wages on as Hitsugaya continues his struggle against Shawlong. During which, the 10th Division Captain asks Shawlong whether or not it is the 11th ranked Arrancar or higher. Shawlong responds that it is the 11th born in the series.

Arrancar that are born from the Hougyoku and have finished changing into their new forms are given a number/rank of 11 or less in the order they were born. Those endowed with superior killing ability at "birth" from the rest of their peers are given a number from 10 to 1. These "10 Blades" (called the Espada) have authority to control those ranked 11 and below. The strength difference from the top ten and those ranked 11 and below is a whole dimension (think difference between Captain and Vice-Captain). It is also said that these top ten Arrancar have their corresponding number etched somewhere on their body. (Explains how Grimmjow managed to get Shawlong, Illforte, Edorado, Nakim, and Deiroy to follow him in this raid.)

The 6th person of the Espada is none other than Grimmjow himself.

The scene then returns to Grimmjow, who is shown to have the number 6 engraved onto his back. Grimmjow easily beats back Ichigo's assault and goads the boy to activate Tensa Zangetsu.

We return to Hitsugaya, who watches Matsumoto waiting for somesort of permission to come from the transmitter she's holding. It's the permission to cancel the limitation that Shinigami have on their reiatsu to fight in the living world; apparently Hitsugaya's been waiting for the green light to go full power. Finally, at the end of the sequence, permission is granted and Matsumoto shouts out to Hitsugaya. (Well, that shows us why the Shinigami have been more or less losing this engagement. Additionally, since Ikkaku isn't a Captain or Vice-Captain, the limitation does not apply to him => massive victory with Ryuumon Hoozukimaru.)

Three hands (Hitsugaya, Matsumoto, and Renji?) are seen applying themselves to the flowers/insignia of their respective divisions and cancel the limitations on their reiatsu.

That's quite depressing for the support charachters Orihime, Ishida and Sado...

I'm surprised by Hitsugaya... second place! I guess the readers relate better to him...

I just can't believe that Hitsugaya had took the 2nd position and moved Rukia of the spot... Just 50 more votes and he would have been first! (Kill the damn chicken boy!!!!)

And Aizen was out of the top ten?!!

But the most intriguing thing is that Kira is ranked 11 abive many great characters...

Japanese people really amuse me...

those poll results are weird wheres my fav cap Unohana and her vice Isane Kotetsu??? well at least Hanatarou reps for my division way down in 24th place

At least Hinamori is 12th!!

Hitsugaya is so high on the poll cause most of the readers are as old as him... still it's surprising to to have quite reached the main charachter.

The most surprising thing is the awful placements of the 3 "support" charachters Ishida, Inoue and Sado...

It seems i was right in the end... they were really misused in the story and uninteresting... Sado added nothing to the "silent type" cliche and Ishida's rivalry with Ichigo was pathetic. Inoue at least gave us some funny moments despite her impact to the story was near zero.....

Sado is 30th!!!!!! Ishida is 15th!!! And Orihime is only 10th and we all know why she was ranked best out of the three...

Yoruichi is 7th and Kenpachi is 9th... Although I would both of them rate 5 places higher,at least they are in top 10
It is cool gin was 4th...And it isnt THAT cool that Ishida was 15th...

Well, what do you know. Kubo Tite actually had a good reason why the high-level Shinigami were owned so bad. This just goes to show the man's amazing attention to detail.

I thought that there was already another results long before, I remember reading the manga two months ago with an omame at the end having Kon as presenting the awards of the polls, it started with Hanatarou than Kon came in...the manga had Zaraki on the tome volume I think..I dunno...

BUT

Hey, other members, the thread is about the chapter 209, not the poll results. Honestly, if you want to talk about the poll result, start a new thread with first post being the complete tresult and ask people what theythink about it. But it would simply result in a repetition of the 'who's the coolest character of the manga' where everyone will say that someone is cooler and should have been ranked higher or that one suck and should have been lower. So go slow or stop with this off topic thing.

Now back to chapter 209

It seems like the permission to fight at full power has never been granted. So from this time they have just been fighting at a lower power. So the theory that they were allowed to fight at full power right fromthe beginning was wrong...
