Default What exactly is a Quincy?

When a Shinigami dies where does their soul go? It must go to a higher soul society assuming there are tiers of soul society like Dante's Inferno where there are tiers of Hell(there does seem to be a hierarchy of power/position with a high demand of order which suggests there are tiers, and who does Yamamato take orders from?). In other animes they refer to an astral line where everything eventually returns to...maybe there's one of these in Bleach?

Now, if a Quincy isn't a Shinigami then is he/she Human? When Ishida's family was wiped out by the Shinigami did their souls go to Soul Society? If a Quincy has a naturally large spiritual presence then I would think upon death, IF they were indeed human, they would make super strong Shinigami. However, we haven't seen any Shinigami who were once a Quincy(but Soul society is infinitely huge supposedly and is rare for many to meet their former family there). So is it safe to conclude Quincys are not human and upon death do not go to Soul Society? If so, just where do they go?

If Quincys are not Human and are there own race ( i guess race would be a way to classify them), then IF a Quincy, like Ishida, were to cross over the hollow or shinigami line and then return to break down the invisible threshold of ones limits just as Ichigo has done...then would he be as powerful as Ichigo or maybe even more powerful?

Then again, it's just an anime and no plot is without holes.

Most of this was already either answered in the manga or obvious because of what was said in the manga. Quincys do go to Soul Society, how do you think Mayuri experimented on them? They probably didn't become Shinigami because the Shinigami, y'know, genocided them. Also, they aren't very strong compared to Shinigami, for the most part.

They go to Soul Society, they just don't become shinigami. They don't get along with them well, and have too much pride to become Shinigami.

No, they didn't explain it very well or at all. Mayuri didn't experiment with them after they died. He captured them and experimented with them. Ishida's grandfather was captured, not killed first by the hollows. Also I think Quincy's are very strong. Ishida's dad is prolly stronger than many captains in soul society it seems like.

Quincy's supposedly uses outer spiritual forces not spirit force from themselves. So it's not guaranteed they'd become a strong shinigami.

When a shinigami's soul dies, it is believed that they cease to exist. They just die and get wiped out.

Yamamoto takes orders from the wisemen of soul society, but seeing as how they are all dead, he is now in comman of the entire Gotei 13.

    Human.

Hollows wiped them out, not the shinigamis. Most likely their souls has went to soul society, but it's not confirmed yet.

Quincies hate shinigamis, so they wouldn't want to become one in the first place.

No, it is not safe. As of right now, the answer is undertermined, but they would most likely be headed to soul society.

Too bad that would never happen.

i always thought that the shinigami ate the Quincy spirit power so when they did go to soul society they dont have much spirit pressure, or that they become hollows after there heart gets eaten like in that one episode. where orihime's brother got attacked by a bunch of hollows.

but that was the epd and not the manga, it could be different.

i also thought that after shinigami die they become normal humans and go to earth with there powers eaten or lost? no then im wrong

    WRONG

He said that he purposly delayed backup for remaining Quincys in danger so he could get there freshly released souls, so he could collect them for experiment. He let them die in other words, since you could get that much by reading the manga and watching the anime.

What the guy you so ignorantly tried to dispute said was correct and you are very, very worng.

No, Ishida's grandfather was clearly stated by him as being dead. Also, Mayuri said he experimented on 2000+ Quincys, and there's no way there were that many left alive since the Shinigami killed almost all of them. Mayuri also says that Ishida's the strongest Quincy he's ever seen, so for the most part they probably aren't strong compared to Shinigami.
