Presense of death is key for real suspense in an action anime, yes. But Bleach isn't designed for that sort of suspense, it more relies on the suspense of allies, enemies, and those in between.
? Bleach uses this theme a lot, the only difference is, that it would go too far to let a main character die.

    The theme doesn't work if a character(especially a main character) doesn't die.

There's no suspense. Let's say Chad had died in SS. It would have pissed people off, but now the threat of death exists for all the characters. If the author is willing to kill off Chad, who's the say Renji won't die next? What about Orihime? Maybe even Rukia?

But we know no one is going to die. Here's an example:

Do you think Ururu is dead? Like, never showing up again in the manga dead? How about Hinamori? What about Renji, think it's possible he's going to die in the fight? How about the the boy wonder captain?

Shawlong has one hell of a nice shikai. He'd better not die yet, because I want to see him against a stronger opponent.

    As I die-hard Hitsugaya fan, I don't think he's through yet.

But... he doesn't look all that happy. Him being a constant punching bag makes me sad. Also, it does seem he is one of the weakest captains after all...

Well he has been a captain for such a short time in relativity to the others... That has to be taken into consideration.

I know, but he also went ground-zero with Gin, although they didn't use Ban Kai. Does that mean Gin is weaker than the current Arrankar?

No need to answer that, it was rhetorical.

I donno, I'd like to see Hitsuguya's bankai in motion. It just seems that he stays still. His shikai seems better to me personally. But meh''

I was actually thinking the same thing about whether or not to include that in my last post. It seems his shikai is better since it affected a whole radius and he could move freely around. Plus, the chain that his zanpaktou has disappears when he goes into Ban Kai. The dragon could solify the water it disbursts and freze targets.

When the dragon fused into his own body, it makes him weaker for some reason since he's not experienced I guess. He gets slower too from what I've noticed. Also, what's the point of the stars behind him, just to look pretty or something?

I don`t think Hitsugaya is out of it yet. In the last picture it looks as if he is using his tail to attack Shawlong.
