Ok, so instead of being a captain, he's captain class, which means it's likely he was a captain

My theory on this based off what i have seen in the manga and alot of guess work. Think about Ikkaku and Renji both arent captains but are as strong as one in terms of ban kai and such, so we don't have to assume Isshin was a captain. Most likely he fled SS for a reason, maybe they didn't condone him marying a human or he was part of the Urahara/Yourichi incident and helped them escape, thus being unable to return to SS. My guess is that maybe he was Urahara's VC and thats why he no longer resides in soul society and could of very easily used the Gigai Urahara created to become a human and just like rukia he was able to have his powers restored after leaving the Gigai. However none of this has been stated by KT and is merely speculation.

Even if Isshin was a captain, which is at present unsubstantiated, putting him in the 4th division is just plain ridiculous. The common guess of the 11th division doesn't work either, because it states that Zaraki killed the old captain. Not defeated, killed.

If Isshin was a captain, there are several good options for which he was. Gin Ichimaru is a recent captain, as is Histugaya. So he could have been in either of their divisions.

Agreed, but I'm prone to believe he was a captain. Considering Ichigo's abilities, Issen may well outclass just about everyone who's shown up in power.

im still waiting for the flames

personally Isshin wasnt a master doctor... more of a jack of all trades (said he could fix almost anything that didnt require major surgery)... although id LOVE for him to have been the captain of my favorite division (4th) its just fantasy to think that he could have been... if i had to GUESS id say he was previous captain of the third division or sixth...

this thread is as useful as the "Yoruichi was the previous 2nd division captain" thread

I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

Actually, it's even less useful because Yoruichi's being the Second Division captain should be assumed correct until we have evidence to the contrary. Isshin's being 4th division captain should be assumed wrong until we get direct evidence that he was.

The hell is your problem? I'm sorry we enjoy thinking about the possible outcomes of a character, but it's nothing for you to whine like a little girl about. Seriously, everyone seems to consider you the smartest Bleach guy here but you just act like a child 95% of the time.

This thread is so ... out of date. We haven't seen Isshin for a long time now, isn't it better just to wait for Kubo to reveal Kurosaki-senior's history by himself?

Ontopic: I've always thought of Isshin being Urahara's vice-captain...I know it's baseless, but who cares? (BTW, Isshin states that he've already seen Arrankar over ten years ago, while it was only 6 years ago that Misaki died...)
