Thread: Eternal life?

I was just wondering... shinigami are actually normal souls rite? its only after going through certain training that one can be a shinigami...Won't that mean that with the gigai created by urahara, the shinigami can become a human again? that means that living for an eternity would be possible, no?

also, what happens to a shinigami when they are killed again? will he/she just cease to exist or what or are they born back in the world as humans?i mean souls thereotically can't die again rite? so what happens to rukia's sis and the ex-vice captain of 12th division?

One more thing, how are the souls reincarnated i wonder?

I think the souls just have longer life spans than humans. Because they still age and are still affected by sickness. And aging is a process of death so yeah, i think they just live much much longer.

If souls die, i think its safe to assume that in the bleach universe, they just cease to exist. Saying that there is a hell and heaven ON TOP soul society and the hollow place is just too much for me, lol

I dont think souls get reincarnated naturally. (probably through some plot twist type of thing...)

And ive read somewhere that souls have the choice to be born again in the living world (i think this is the reincarnation thing you were talking about). What im slightly confused about is if they retain memories, spirit level, or appearance. There's probably some process they have to go through in order to do it. I'm not too sure but I remember in the anime/manga when they explained why the shinigami and the quincies don't get along is cuz the Quincies destroy them while the Shinigami purify them and that the Quincies disrupt the ratio of souls entering Soul Society and souls entering the Human World.


What i can't help thinking is that with clans that share blood (like clans from Naruto and the Quincy)...how the hell do they have pure clan members that aren't retarded! I mean COME ON!

But what about the 13th captains sickness? I'm not saying he'll die from it but it sure is weakening his body. Maybe souls live eternally until something weakens their body to the point where it can't sustain itself ie sickness or sword slash.

Go read the explanation for why the Quincy had to be wiped out. It's pretty obvious that the souls get reincarnated on earth. Also, Zaraki said the same thing, with how death doesn't matter because you can fight again in your next life.

If what Zaraki said then was true. Then that would be a major plot hole in the Bleach universe. For zaraki to say if you beat me, come and lets fight in the in the next life would mean that they either retain memories, spirit level, and appearance which would mean that anyone who died in SS could just be retrieved from the human world and it would also make any battles or war pointless. Everyone would have to be sealed rather than killed.

Actually no. He was saying that they would change, but that they could always still fight. Not that Tousen would come back as Tousen, and only maybe that Tousen would come back as a potential shinigami. Buddhist mythology says that you get 300 years before reincarnation anyway though.

I really highly doubt this phrase held a deep meaning in Bleach, but hey whatever.

Ghost - Spirit
Shinigami - Death God

He never said the reincarnation would be aware of his spirit previous life, so you totally missinterpretated what he said.
Its just that he loves to fight, and a reincarnated version of him would love to fight too, even though the reincarnation wouldn´t have the memory nor power from the start.
