AHHH, you still continue with the "it has to be connected to the death of his mother" thing, can´t believe youre serious.
Even though a zanpakuto is the reflection of the wielder, it has his own personality, Zangetsu is Zangetsu not part of Ichigo´s consciousness while we can assume that the hallow side is a part of Ichigo´s consciousness, otherwise he wouldn´t be able to control Ichigo.
Thats why the monologue of Zangetsu was so important, he can´t do shit against Ichigo´s hallow side, because Ichigo has to fight against it on his own BUT Zangetsu said he would to anything to support Ichigo, so that the rain would stop -> Ichigo prevails over his hallow side.

Have I understood the manga? Perhaps no, I don't have that pretention. But I've read many and their usual pattern is about young people overcoming their inheritance, growing up to be individuals.
Ichigo's torn between shinigamis and hollows. His father is a shinigami. I supposed his mother had been one, leaning my theory over technical points mentioned in the story.

Well, he is a shinigami, he kills hallows after all, though he doesn´t work for soul society he does what he thinks is righteous to repay his debt to Rukia, that a difference.
Neither is he associated with soul society nor vizards or Aizen.

ok, maybe I watched NGE's original ending once too much and I tend to psychanalize things too much.

I pointed the similarities between zangetsu and ichi's hollow on one side and the concepts of superego and id on the other.
The superego is the siege of the constraints and rules that guide the conscience and helps it resisting the pulsions of the id.
It is not a part of the consciousness nor is the id:
They both reside in exterior attributes: mask and sword.

Erm... If you're going for Freudian analysis, the id would be as much as a part of the conciousness as the ego.

The id is the childlike mind that has all of the natural urges
The ego is ontop of that, and is essentially who you are - responding to the id appropriately to how the superego (which is an ideal, an idea the ego has, rather than enything real) would respond.

the id is unconscious, as much as the superego. The only conscious part being the ego, the result of their conflict.
So both are part of *the construction" of the consciousness.

Well as for d I i think that his dad was once a powerful deathgod and his mom had a huge spirit force after all hollows go after those with large spirit force,that explains Ichigo's huge spirit force. As for the hollow within, i think thats his dark half that was sleeping until he trained to regain his deathgod powers, cuz wen rukia was taken away he hated the deathgods for awhile..well that's what i tink

Ichigo has a hollow inside him because he transformed into a shinigami midway into transforming into a hollow. He's no more had a hollow within him from birth than any other human on the planet.
