Default Varying Spanish names in Bleach

What's the deal with all the spanish references in Bleach? I mean the Menos Grande literally means Smaller Large. And the 202's title means Bad Luck. Can anyone else find any other Spanish vocabulary in Bleach outside of Chad's backstory? And why do you think that Spanish is used in bleach?

Why does bleach deal about shinigami and hollows? Who knows, perhaps because Kubo Tite felt like doing so?

Why do they often use german phrases? french phrases?
Perhaps he likes the language, spain, the culture, history, who knows?
Maybe he wanted to be unique?

I see no point in asking this, its like asking what existed earlier, the egg or chicken?!

Aside crazytype's totally agreeable post, I'd like to point out to you that Menos Grande doesn't literally mean Smaller Large. It means Less Large.

    Close, but no cigar.

Well, I find that it makes a lot more sense to use Spanish than French or German... seeing as Spanish is the third most used language in the world (after Chinese and English). Besides what's wrong with Spanish amigos?

i always thought he used spanish to represent a western country, sort of like how Europe tried to get into Japan (did they? i never payed attention in histroy) and since they couldn't use English, Spanish had to be used. And German doesn't seem to fit that catagory, and sorry, but the French are usually casted as the weak ones, the ones who gave up. So to me, that's why he picked spanish.

Or of course he knows how to speak japanese, english, AND spanish, and didnt want to bother to find out the proper names in french or any other language. Or maybe he used a language labelled dart board, or a "spin the bottle and see which language it points to" technique.

That was just to help satisfy you curious people and to make my post not seem totally useless, but on this one, I agree with CrazyType

Yeah...when I started taking Spanish class this year and found out that "mas o menos" meant "more or less"...I thought of Menos Grande.....and I was like "WTF?!!" It's a wierd contradiction to him...

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends
