I think the art of killing was referring to a sword style but they were also talking about zanpakuto training.

I think Zaraki will awaken his zanpakuto soon.

Aside from the stupid wacky characters like Division 0, this was a decent chapter.

What im interested in seeing is the interaction between Zaraki and her... he's not to type to really be humbled by people. Its going to be fun seeing, if we get to see it that is, his submissive relationship with her. Also, again, I wonder if he would get to learn the name of his Zanpakutou as well? It was kind of assumed that since he's such a monster and only kills for the thrill and not "listen" to his sword he thinks its too late.... but if there's anyone that could teach him the way it would definitely be Unohana.

Well we really don't have a timeline to go by, she's stated as one of the oldest crop of the current captains. We have no idea if shes the one who actually established the fourth division. I feel like the Tenjirou is the original fourth division captain and she probably was in the eleventh division (or another one) a long time ago, killed that captain, was promoted, then subsequently switched to the role of healer for some reason, when Tenjirou was promoted to zero division she switched and became captain of the fourth. Maybe it wasn't her choice as we know that the Captain Commander can reassign shinigami to whatever division he sees fit.

Well we all know zanpakuto can have many different abilities in shikai mode, hell Urahara has like half a dozen separate abilities with Benihime...

remembering what shunsui said to aizen during the TBTP chapters, Shunsui, Uki, Unohana and Ol' Yama are what's remaining of the original guard, which I take to be they are the leftovers of the original gotei 13 captains. And now its revealed tht unohana's the original kenpachi (squad 11), and tenjirou seems to be the person who taught unohana how to heal, he must be the original squad 4 captain....

the tradition of squad 11 which says killing the current captain is the only way to become the next captain of squad 11, i would dare say, unohana, upon having formed her resolve like Kenshin not to kill anymore, she announced that the shodai kenpachi is dead (having switched to healing), and appointed her vice (probably) to take up the role, and hence this tradition started in squad 11.

Just released there are now going to be 2 Kenpachi in the next war, and if she is the women Kenny admired this will make one scary ass team up.

I dont think she is the first Kenpachi, didn't mean to imply that, isnt the guy from Zero Division also a Kenpachi? I think shes the oldest Kenpachi still active in the Gotei 13 and Zaraki is the latest, no current captains other than the two of them even are Kenpachis to begin with.

Doesn´t he say First Kenpachi right there?
As far as I know, nothing points at anyone in the Zero Division having been a Kenpachi...

I wonder how weak the captain was that Zaraki beat to become a captain.

Ehhhh... I was under the impression the bearded guy had been referred to as a kenpachi. Never mind then >_>

I do not care much about who Unohana killed to become captain. The moustached quincy said Gotei used to be more brutal and ruthless, a team of killers. So Unohana probably killed one of such people.
