IMO this arc should be more about Chad and his growth. If Kubo actually had him train instead of standing around for, apparently, 3 years then we could have seen him become beastly.
I don't understand why Kubo under utilizes Chad so much. It's kind of racist.

If I could relate this series with another then it would definitely be DragonBall Z. In the beginning the main character was weak and had to rely on his friends for help in order to beat the bad guy, it was a team effort to start with, then slowly but surely the main character gains strength and can take care of things with minimal help from the team. A little while later the main character is considered the all powerful being of the series, everyone relies on him to get the job done. So even if the other characters are 'doing their part' the main character still takes out the big badguy boss dude all by his lonesome.
Ichigo = Goku... i mean, seriously, after Namek all the humans were powerless... in this case it was a bit later, but after they were attacked by the Arrancar the humans were powerless (save Inoue, but she had a different purpose, she's basically a senzu bean). So unfortunately, Chad won't make much of a difference, he'll pull a Tienshinhan and use his final attack and die or something, while Ishida will cap out like Vegeta did, he can never power up enough to beat Goku...I mean Ichigo.

Tienshinhan was at least badass. He somehow stayed strong enough to survive against Cell's second form. Chad is just a shield nowadays.

@Icecold: but Bleach at least still has the Captains - in DBZ you only had two or three guys who were on the same level, all the others were just fodder (Cell Arc: Cell & Gohan, Buu Arc: Buu, Gotenks, Goku, Gohan -> even later on: Vegito (or whatever the fusion was called) & Kid Buu. He got finished by the Earth Genkidama though, but still ^^).

I hate chad, I wish he would die already

I actually like the guy, but as a side character heīs become so insignificant I donīt really care anymore...sad but true :/

lol yeah, at least they do have the captains. I was going to mention that I was excluding them from the equation, but no big deal. It was a good analogy.
