He even trumped grand scientist by beating him to the punch by creating one first? At the rate things are going to defeat a Hougya demi-god you must be one yourself, so I hope Ichigo has 1 of his own or some damn thing like that -_-
He might have made one first but he failed(his words) Urahara succeeded and even Aizen has praised him time and time again. Urahara will always be the best, fake body maker, bankai cheater, weapon developer and power ball maker to hit this manga.
I don't really feel that Gin was fodder in the way he died. (If he is dead, he's way too popular to die from those wounds.) Everyone that Aizen has faced until now in his super god mode has faced an Aizen that was basically fucking around. He really hasn't been seriously fighting back until now. Gin came the closest to actually killing Aizen, (closer than the captain of the first squad) and took a slash, a dismemberment, and a stabbin' for it. (doesn't it take a hell of a lot more damage than that for a bleach character to die anyway?)Gin was the biggest threat, so Aizen put him down quick.

This chapter he says he made the Hougyoku before Urahara but he's wearing a Captain haori.
When Urahara made it he was a Captain and Aizen a VC.
