Does anyone know what Engetsu means? Kubo will write it like Ichigo learns the move and becomes super wise

The Kanji for Engatsu is 剡月
The word "剡" means Sharp/Cut/Razor
To describe the word : a blade which is on fire (炎) that makes it soo sharp
So it can be translated as "sharp/cutting/chopping/razor/scathing moon"

If Kubo plays it smart this new power up will help Ichigo beat Gin and that's it. NO matter what kinda magic Ichigo pulls there is no way he can even come close to touching Aizen in his hollowfied form...Much less stand up to Aizen's Bankai (Lord knows its probably an abomination of an ability).

^ Nice! That makes more sense and I hope thats the route it takes. The more I think about it its definately the direction Kube would take because thats the precident he follows for Ichigo's teeny bopper fights against young hip antagonist around his age. Renji, Grimmjaw, Ulquiorra and now Gin. They each taunt him about his power not being ANYWHERE remotely close to challenge them to the point where they make him shit is pants and question his own resolve. Of course after he cries, grows a pair and learns something new he always goes back and kick their ass.

Exacly. Also Gin isin't so far out of his league as to be untouchabe- Ichigo managed to stop his Bankai without his mask on. So with a powerup woulden't be impossible.

So, will Ichigo be using this power up of his with his mask? or is he just going to do it in Shinigami mode?

Probably both as i'd say Gin is stronger than Ulquiorra.

I think this bit with Zangetsu is a clear example why we should never trust fillers. When Ichigo fought Zangetsu in the sword arc. Not only did he say he was fighting Ichigo because he taught him everything he could and wanted him to be as strong as possible but also used bankai and did not change at all. So lesson set there for any unwary travelers.
