Hold on BF. I ain't saying that the whole movie is canon timeline wise. All I'm saying is Kishi wanted to show Hitsugaya's background. The background happened long before the series started so I don't think it's too hard to believe that Hitsugaya shared Hyorinmaru with somebody else.

If we look at Hyorinmaru being a Divine Spirit Zanpakuto and Zangetsu being derived from familial bonds it wouldn't be impossible for them to be shared by two masters.
Think about this. A Zanpakuto spirit is supposed to be created from the wielders inner soul and personality. It could be certain Zanpakutos have enough power to spirits on their own and choose their wielders.

But it's not canon. The only reason that Hitsugya's back-story is considered canon is because they made a short manga prelude to it, but that is as far as it goes. We can't put any faith in what happened in the movie to help explain what the deal is with Ichigo and his dad.

lol im thinking kubo had to think real hard to come up with a plot twist that would allow ichigo to train mid fight....im thinking isshin asked urahara to destroy the pillars(or did it himself) so that in effect no ones gone anywhere.but ichigos got a new power up

also, aizen's new form looks like ichigo's hollow form after the mask broke against ulquiorra.

What the hell happened to Yoruichi, Isshin and Urahara's bankai? They lost without even using their bankai.
