Bleach: Chapter 383

Isshin will probably turn up after Ichigo gets a good shoeing by Aizen and everyone gives up hope, turning up out the blue, all cool like. I got a theory about Division 0, and if Isshin belonged to them, well Im not sure what'll happen. If Isshin does fight Aizen though, it'll be alongside Ichigo, because y'know, Ichigo is the main character n'all...

I don't get it.. Arrancar is already in their "temporary" form and regains their marks when released... right?

We know Isshin gave up being a shinigami 20 years prior and was given a reitsu suppressing gigai.
We can assume he replaced Hitsugaya as he is the most recent captain. I would also assume kurosaki is not his true last name and would actually be masaki's otherwise the other captains would have likely said something upon hearing Ichigo's name.
I'm more curious how Kisuke made a gigai that can allow for child birth.

As for Ichigo's fight I'm really not expecting that much...if even Kubo can increase Ichigo's power to match Aizen's all of a sudden that's really stretching it way too far. It'd make a lot more sense (as well as a more interesting battle) if Ichigo teams up with someone else...like Shinji, as mentioned. Though personally I think an Unohana-Yamamoto combo would be a powerhouse. Too bad they're all under Aizen's shikai...but does anyone else think Aizen loses the hypnosis ability in bankai? Assuming he would have any reason to use it in the first place...

Oh yes I've been waiting so long to see Isshin in on the main action, and with all the other characters...more than that I want to see how the other captains react. Will they all know him? Will they remember? If he wasn't featured with Urahara during the whole Vaizards thing 100 years before then I want to know what his history's like.

Well actually yeah, that fits an Arrancar's description (lol)...because I was thinking that if both sides (that is, Shinigami and Hollows) were to become hybrids, they'd reach some sort of middle point...some sort of intersection point between Shinigami and Hollow. So it made sense that if Hollows became Arrancar, then Shinigami could become something like Arrancars too. When a Hollow becomes an Arrancar they do gain certain Shinigami-like features, like a humanoid shape, less of a mask and a zanpakutou. But when the Vaizard transform, all they get's a mask. Seemed kinda uneven to me, which is why I'm hoping Tousen's transformation, which should be more complete, will be more hybrid-y. If he gets at least a temporary hollow hole and all it would be cool and it would indicate better that he's more complete than the Vaizards.

1. Findor did...but then again we don't know if he can put it back on. Seems like a permanent transformation, not the temporary thing I was talking about...so why don't all Arrancars break up to 90% of their masks to get maximum power?

Hollows break their masks to become more Shinigami-like, but it isn't as effective unless you have something like the Hougyoku to complete the process, is that right? So I don't really get how losing your mask entirely means becoming weaker...but that's the way it is, so that's the way it is. I guess.

Hmm so if I'm right and if the Vaizards are equivalent to Hollows trying to rip off part of their masks on their own (meaning they had no help from something like the Hougyoku to help the process) then Tousen should logically possess a more 'complete' form that the Vaizards we've seen. Possibly, something like an Arrancar (lol).

Well technically that's true I guess...but then since they're always in Arrancar form you can't really call it temporary, can you? What I meant was why can't they be like regular Hollows that can turn into Arrancars anytime, rather than Arrancars releasing to turn back into a Hollow (sort of)?

It just popped into my head, but rereading Aizens monologue... I hope he doesnt kill Gin and Tousen if they dont absolutely rape everyone.

I don't think that breaking a hollow's mask is the thing that turns them into an Arrancar, otherwise Orihime's brother would have become one too in the beginning of the manga. Instead he just gained temporary control of his senses before the mask reformed. I think the broken mask is simply representing whatever inner change turns a hollow into an Arrancar.

The way I see it, the broken mask is a reflection of the hollow breaking free of their limitations, but I think the only way the mask would ever disappear entirely is if they completely lost their hollow powers.

That's why I think it's mostly the Hougyoku's doing, and that the mask simply accompanies the transformation. But I was wondering why ripping masks off entirely would somehow weaken them...like Pesshe and Dondochakka.

Except for Starrk the Hougyoku was never used on him, he is a natural born Arrancar that's why his Zanpaktou was just a sword and he didn't need it to go back to his original self.

About Orihime's brother; I read somewhere that he did become an Arrancar from ripping his own mask off, but he wasnt a powerful hollow to begin with.

I think its only the most powerful hollows that gain a Zanpakuto and human form from mask-tearing and the ability to hold that power gain, also theres the thing about becoming weakened from a 100% mask-tear.

We also dont know how much mask was tore off Nel's Fraccion to begin with, but seeing as they had what looked like full masks now, they've regenerated since that event.

Going back to the first volumes, Rukia mentioned it is a shield for their id from the outside world, meaning losing it would free up thier limitations in some sense.

I think only more powerful Hollows could handle this and become full-fledged Arrancar while weaker hollows are over-whelmed and will have their masks regenerate. Also I think the materialisation of an Arrancar's Zanpakuto stops their mask regenerating, possibly as their lost mask piece(s) becomes the Zanpakuto.

I also notice that weaker Arrancar have more of a mask than say, the Espada, and even then, their masks seem to get smaller as they have higher rank. This says to me that they could not all rip 90% of their mask off as they might be over-whelmed, so they take as much as they can off.

Well thats mostly speculation on my part, but makes sense, no?
