A captain is more likely to do it out of duty, because of an order, or as seen with byakuya - to defend their own pride.

Ulquiorra is going for ichigo so much simply because ichigo annoys him. It's likely that the motivation of his character is simply to prove that his pride isn't misplaced, to stamp it into the very core of ichigo's being, as it were, that it was ALWAYS hopeless to resist.
I donīt think itīs exactly pride per se, itīs a factor in this yeah but itīs not what is really driving Ulquiorra to take Ichigoīs stubbornness personally.

This battle, while obviously one of shonen powerhouses, has been also a mental one for awhile. Ulquiorra, obviously, is becoming frustrated by the fact that Ichigo refuses to surrender. The notion on his face makes it appear as if he truly can't understand why Ichigo just doesn't give up. Surely in his "logical" only mind this doesn't make sense. To him the person that realizes they are weaker should just give up and surrender to the inevitable.

This is where Ulquiorra failed. He underestimates the power of Ichigoīs Willpower. The willpower that helped him draw with Kenpachi. The Willpower that helped him achieve Bankai in 2 days because time was up. He underestimates the power of love, friendship, etc....the whole shonen dribble.

There was a very important talk that Ulquiorra had with Orihime before this battle, "what my eyes can't see doesn't exist". This is what is frustrating Ulquiorra. You can't see love. You can't see willpower and determination. Ulquiorra has probably never seen willpower strive over pure strength. Which should be impossible to him and yet heīs losing in that regard.

Itīs a somewhat similar relationship he has with Orihime but Ulquiorra usually manages to talk his way out and shut her up, Ichigo doesnīt stop just there.

The only "proof" we have of him not being dead is what Grimmjow said after Orihime had healed his lifeless body back to a conscious state and that isn't enough proof.

and just cause he looks dead means he is dead?...he looked more stunned to me anyways but besides that I'm pretty sure Grimmjow had a good idea of the state ichigo was in....yes he was dying, but he wasn't dead i'm sure Grimmjaw could sense that in him. i don't know how he fairs up agaisn't this new hole....have to wait and see...

Hollow ichigo definitely gonna come out. The word "im not gonna let u die until i become the king" during the training to become vaizard definitely a cue that his gonna come out anytime soon now.

And IF the hollow ichigo come out, im expecting that maniac show some crazy ass new technique =D

Btw, i still think ichigo sux badly even after he got his vizard form. For some reason he cant use that vizard form to the fullest. For example, if u see carefully, ichigo not even once manage 2 do some consecutive getsuga tenshou, while the hollow ichigo managed to do that during the fight with Byakuya. And u can see how fast and different the hollow ichigo move, its like fighting while dancing...damn cool.

But then again we cant blame ichigo for being sux becoz he never got the chance to train his bankai and vizard form while we already been enlighten in the story that this 2 form need to be train *bankai at least 10years as stated by Byakuya* to perfect it.

Its already quite impressive that he managed to reach this far with a couple of month training.

As Ulquiorra has pointed out, Ichigo is denying his connection to his hollow side. He is trying to use the hollow increase in power only on top of his shinigami power, and not embracing it.

Ichigo is a shinigami-hollow hybrid, not a shinigami with a hollow boost. The sooner Ichigo embraces his hollow nature he'll be able to use the full scope of the combined power. That was something Ulquiorra was aluding to often enough.

In any case, I just want to see the berserker come out and destroy Ulquiorra. Ichigo doesn't have a chance himself.

That entire thing was subjective bullshit; but, I'm giving you points for that last part.

True enough, I guess I oversimplified it. You know, i'm beginning to wonder just how Kubo will get him out of this. For some reason I wouldn't be surprised if it was neither Ogichi or a captain that bails him out. I implied earlier in the thread that it's possible a vaizard could show up, but I don't know.

With Orihime and Ishida so close (and inevitably one or both will try something), if Ichigo is even remotely aware of what's happening, that stubborn-ness is going to come into play. Perhaps he could embrace the hollow half and fight Ulquiorra consciously, or Ogichi could even allow Zangetsu out to teach him a new attack and preserve Ichigo's life force.

For the first time in a while, i'm not really sure where the next chapter will go.
