I know the old guy is supposed to be all super powerful and crap, but I really hope someone hands him his ass. His arrogance really irritates me.

Aizen is the same way. They're arrogant because they have the strength to show it.
If Yama-ji, probably THE Strongest character in Bleach (tied with Aizen) shows some effort against this thing (using anything more than shikai, or even getting hit) than something is wrong. I found it funny that Hisagi was just tossed around so easily after having his cool factor.
Wasn't Iba with his captain Komamura a second ago? If so, where is Komamura then?
^ thats what i wanted to know. Dog man shouldv'e been the one to stop the chimera instead of old man. Or better yet Ikkaku..cause he should redeem himself for not going all out.
U forget the golden rule of bleach. Kool Factors dont last for long. lol. one minute your mr pretty boi the next minute your face is all busted in.

I agree that Yama-Ji should not have entered the fight, but for people to say he should be beaten because of his arrogance, then think about it like this, if you're exceptional at something it's understandable that you would have trouble agreeing with how others are so inept in comparison. I'm thinking people who get worked up over a understandably cocky character or person of any kind, have major inferiority issues.
It's not about confidence or competence, it's about arrogance. The old guy is so convinced of his moral superiority, due to his martial superiority, that he won't listen to other people or ever accept that he could be wrong. That makes him an idiot, regardless of how strong he is.
^ i looked like he already pwned him. lol but wasn't yama keepin Aizen and company at bay with his almight flames?? O_O

I hate Yama too but I don't think he will lose
The time you're referring to had nothing to do with him being arrogant, in a militant group any leader who is under the order of people in higher command and actually adheres to the rules would have acted in the same manner during the SS Arc. There was no evidence that would have called for him to act any differently, only speculation, which means nothing. He could not witness what we did as readers, truthfully the only people at fault were all the Shinigami that helped Ichigo and company, in the real world they would all have been court-martialed and in many countries put to death. You're way of thinking isn't correct for the situation, ever been in the military or known people that were? You follow orders without question, regardless of your rank, the person above you is right. In combat situations, if you don't follow orders, you can be killed on the spot, it doesn't happen anymore but the rule is still in place.
