Yea i believe that ikkaku's the strongest...., when it comes to fighting in general i.e hand to hand and sword to sword (or whatever other weapon) but his shikai can't stand up to bigger pple with alotta strength and abilites. Look at when he fought that arrancar Edorad Leones who used that "volcano" ability. That didn't turn out well for him hell his shikai even broke. The fact that his seemly ordinary staff turns into a tri-staff does suprise the enimy but only momentarily. Its like a cheap magic trick, after its done once your not gonna let it awe you again.

In the spoiler pic it doesn't even like his arrancar is realeased. If thats the case then Ikkaku got his ass beat pretty bad. If Ikkaku has to use bankai how's Tite gonna write it sp that he realeases his Bankai without everybody else seeing?? Old man Yamamoto's looking.

Eh... I dunno. I'm saying Kubo shouldn't write the plot so that Ikkaku has to use his bankai. Of course Tite can write whatever the hell he wants, but it just looks like he wants to make Ikkaku use bankai for the sake of showing his bankai.

Blech, maybe it's just me XD. I watched the 2nd Bleach movie a little while ago and it was just filled with lame, unnecessary crap.

yeah but the movies arn't written by Tite kubo, thats why they are soooo shit and why the second one was the worst. hopefully thats not the case with ikkaku in the manga and he won't use his bankai

i think considering how the arrancar's releases are equivalent with a bankai level equipment change, (from a literal sword to armor, or crazy forms, or powers) that ikkaku having a spear with no powers, to fight with, considering he was getting his ass handed to him by un-espada arrancar (double digits). And this guy is a personal servant of the espada (they seem far stronger than the first arrancar fought in karakura town) That he'll be running low on luck unless he uses bankai =/

Also, ikkaku isn't THAT strong, like he's a strong and a great hand to hand fighter, but every opponent he's fought with his staff/spear has overcome it. And ichigo curshed it with his hand way back when, unranked arrancar juuuust about killed him from punches, and smashed it using his larger size, which this arrancar has too, ultimately his pride will hold him down.

he doesnt want to show his bankai to anyone else he is like the 4th seat of dvision 11

I'm saying out of those 4 people guarding the pillar, Ikkaku, who is supposed to be the strongest, just had to be the one losing. And it appears that way just so Kubo Tite could find an excuse for Ikkaku to use his bankai, eeeeeven though he doesn't want to.

I wasn't really trying to debate anything, I merely pointed out the logical reason why that last page could be happening in terms of storyline, as well as presenting what I believe are the two most likely ways kubo will come away from it =/

Of course Ikkaku would be the one to do badly. I mean, I love the guy, but this was a completely transparent move on Kubo's part. Ikkaku had to use bankai against a weaker fraccion earlier, so expecting him to win without it against elephant-man up there is silly.
