I think it's strange that Genryusai send captains to HM while small fry defend these crucial pillars.
If they are so important, why not let really strong people protect them.

Simple

Genryuusai probably already planned on trapping Aizen, Had dibs on how many Espadas were left (4)
So he brought, 8 captains(is that right?) 2 for each Espada (not taking in consideration fractions tho)

If they were to split and each go to a pillar, they would end up on a unfavorable position of 3x1 (whoever guarding + 2 captains)(not taking in consideration fractions tho)
And the guards are in terms of strenghts are second only to captains.


Too bad the espadas will probably wipe SS~ and Shiji will save the day.

^well I don´t think the captains are THAT weak...but I can´t wait for the Vaizards to show up...
And I have to look up the numbers of the espada,I forgot who got which number xD

Since when were Vice Captains and 3rd seats small frys?

^since we got the freakin Arrancar who are stronger than even captains (or at least as strong)

oh,and there´s the last type of Hollow (forgot the name xD) we haven´t seen yet - and those are über.So in comparison with 3rd seats and Vice captains they are pretty much ...ehm....SUPA DUPA

They're important in protecting Karakura from getting exploded as collateral damage, not in actually ensuring the defeat of the Espada + rogue shinigami.

Especially considering that it's Yamamoto, winning is probably given higher priority than protecting one section of the human world.

renji and rukia were probably meant to be on one of those pillars but they went to hueco mundo without his permission so he had to find substitutes.

Except you know... Rukia's a weak lil mofo compared to the people already guarding the pillars.

No that town is actually the most important one in the human world. I need to re read the chapters because I guess I was confused when I read it but the key to the King or something is under the town. Its not like Aizen is attacking it because he wants to piss off Ichigo, I think he wants to kill the King or whoever. I really need to go back.
