boring. sort of a let down really. i wanted more fight in this chapter.

poor ulquiorra. now he thinks he's got the byakugan or something.

Give Unohana some credit - she patched up Ichigo's gang pretty quick (even raised Rukia from the dead). She, like other captains, is tired as well. On the other hand, the captains (and vice-captains) may be busy doing something else: like rescuing prisoners (?), investigating Hueco Mundo, emptying the wine cellars, etc.

I too was disappointed by the execution squad. They are probably not Aizen's idea, he would have killed them off long ago. I imagine what would happen if Kenpachi hit them like a bowling ball.

Not exactly the definition of Atheist. Particularly coming from a being in a spiritual after-life setting.

My theory as to why Ishida wasn't with the rest:

They need a way to get out of Hueco Mundo to help the others. Not taking it from the Bount Arc, but Ishida's reishi manipulation abilities could play a part. Remember, he was last seen with Mayuri.

Can anyone in Bleach among except the normal humans really be Atheists or even Nontheists? They all know of the afterlife and it's rule by the Spirit King who is often just referred to as God by Aizen. That would be some uber level of denial to go the Atheist route, or even the nontheist route.
