^What's up with the semantics here? I already said Aizen let Ichigo get as far as he did for Aizen's ploy to work. And letting does in no way or form imply there was no reasoning behind it, so my choice of words isn't wrong.

Would it really matter if Ichigo died? Wouldn't he just go to Soul Society? And by Saint Seiya/Shaman King logic become much stronger after he died.

Same with all human characters at this point...

Ulquiorra fought Ichigo and let him live so he could fight when he became stronger imo, since his growth didn't amount to what he expected he went ahead and dealt the killing blow, chest shot.

Grimmjaw questioned Ulquiorra not killing Ichigo do to future threat and was correct, but had yet to fight Ichigo and gain the rivalry that caused him to prolong their encounters to get the full battle experience.

He is no way dumb, he just shoots his mouth off without considering things, hotblooded and all. Ulquiorra is more of an idiot imo, because he plays cool on the exterior but is driven by the same things as Grimmjaw and has mannerisms he himself doesn't even realize.

If Ichigo died he would likely go to SS and become considerably stronger if he went to the academy and learned the fundamentals of Kido, tactics and other arts or war. Though he would not go the academy and would be thrust straight into Vice or Captain status and would learn things at the level he has been.

    imo...

The time Ulquiorra let Ichigo live, he didn't have the chance to kill Ichigo in time. He clearly cares little for killing peons, but once he deemed Ichigo a threat, Urahara and Yoruichi came to the rescue and took his chance to nip the threat in the bud

    This isn't dumb?

Yeah, but we can't forget that Ichi is the main character and he gets plot no jutsu benefits. If Kubo wants to make Ichigo ultimately retire from being a shinigami, keeping him alive helps. Also, the timescale would have to change drastically if he died. He would have to spend a century piddling about Shinigami training and working up the power ladder. Also, the whole development of the support characters would have gone to waste in this scenario unless Kubo made them all die, in which case it would seem like a hack.

I love semantics - its my favorite game! ^_^

I'd like to die with the songs I love stuck in my head. I hope to make the most of these hollow bones we become.
I raise a toast to the the souls that sang all along. I've been gathering friends to just to make some sounds,
before the ship goes down, I've been making amends by making the rounds before the whole world ends

He left him to Yami, who got his arm cut off, and was beaten down until Ichigo lost his nerve do to Ulquiorra berating Yami for getting ready to release. Then Ulquiorra monologued about how Ichigo's power fluctuated at times being stronger than his own. Then Urahara came, but there wasn't any urgency in Ulquiorra at this point.

Well I hope this series closes with Aizen and he either starts a new manga or picks up Zombie Powder, because I hate being left hanging, would never had read a single word of that series if I had known it would end abruptly like that...

that and not buying Google stock when it first posted are two of my biggest regrets, j/k.
