Going to be mentioned in this huge flashback? The wait is killing me. I mean we know that he must of been a death god so where is he? Or is he older then these flashbacks or possibly even younger than these flashbacks?

As it seems, no, he is not. Most likely he came after this period of time since there is no room to include him in any of what's happening currently.

Since there's been nothing to say that Zaraki is the current Kenpachi in this arc I'm leaning towards it being Isshin. It was 100 years ago, that's plenty of time for him to leave, another 11th division captain to be appointed and Zaraki to kill him. Reading through it again I realise Love does say that the new Kenpachis appointment is due to the ineptitude of his predecessor but I still think this is plausible.

I wonder when people will figure out that any connectioon between Isshin being a Kenpachi is bogus. Newsflash, the title of 11th division captain is usually only given when YOU KILL THE PREVIOUS Kenpachi. Isshin looks pretty healthy in his Gigai to me. Don't say that Urahara had a hand in this, because he was banished from SS, and thus lost all ties with them. Wonder why Soi fong was so made at Yoruichi? It's because she not only didn't get to go with Yoruichi, but they didn't even have a chance to meet at all.

Now, using the time frame already given to us...

Missing Gap

Isshin is not seen at all during the last 109 years.

Missing Gap.

Isshin meets his wife.
Isshin gives up his powers 20 years ago.
Isshin has Ichigo 15-16 years ago.

Most likely, it is between the 109 years gap that we didn't see him that he became a captain. Then, when he was dispatched to the real world, he befriended Urahara, and decided to give up his powers.

*sigh*

That is if its a gigai. The way I see it Isshin doesn't show up for another 60 years after this arc. He gets KILLED in Soul Society (meaning his soul retains its spiritual power) and is reincarnated as a normal human but with Urahara exiled in the same town they are together and ... i can't believe im actually speculating... but Isshin is trained from birth by Urahara, explaining their relationship. Although my bullshit mind-wanderings don't explain the relationship with Ryuuken.

Also remember, when Isshin kills Grand Fisher, Shinji says that he does not recognize that shinigami's reiatsu, so Isshin most likely came about after the Vaizards left SS.
