Stats are capped, it either means that there is actually a universal hard cap that shinigami can reach (which Aizen suggests), or actual abilities are not accurately reflected due to the cap.

Neither case really hurts Kenpachi, you can't use a lot of the abilities simultaneously after all (can't fight hand to hand when you're holding a sword). If the cap doesn't reflect their actual abilities, his "actual" score could be quite a bit higher than 100.

    I doubt that.

errr, no, in all major wars it was highly distasteful to target medics, and in most cases armies would allow medics to cross battlefields and go about their business unharmed. The 4th squad members don't have any fighting ability only healing.
Then I'm pure evil I guess...

But anyway, the databook confirms that Unohana HAS combat skills.
And I highly doubt the 4th division has "only" healing skills, there is no support to that.

And them having attending the Shinigami school, they certainly HAVE fighting, kidoh skills... they might not be "superb" but they sure can hold their ground.

    Just an addendum:
The shinigami have four forms of combat: kidō, hand-to-hand combat, foot combat/work, and swordsmanship.
If kenpachi has very low swordmanship (ability to release his zampakutoh and use its abilities) and ZERO kido, he is sure to get low scores.

I take it you have never heard of any war after 1945 then? It's common knowledge that anytime you aren't fighting a well disciplined "line them up, or trench them up" army, they will often shoot any enemy they see - red cross or not. And don't forget, they're fighting Hollows, not European soldiers.

I disagree shooting the meds is like shooting a journalist. But I have no proof.

Well is normal to want to ignore those that are not in the battle field to kill us, but to save others...

However, it is a matter of point of view.

But if we ever war with Aliens or Heartless machines, we better don't expect them to threat us in a nice way.

    http://www.wwiicombatmedic.com/Equip..._corpsman.html
Many of the Navy Corpsmen who medically supported the Marines in the Pacific during WWII, carried similar equipment as the Army combat medics. That being the two collapsible medic pouches suspended from the medic suspenders or yoke. Some corpsman carried the canvas Unit 3 pouch. Most corpsmen carried a sidearm because of the Japanese reluctance to not follow the Geneva Convention's exemption of not shooting at non-combatants.
    http://www.house.gov/pitts/press/rel...3r-dustoff.htm
MEDEVAC pilots and crew members of a helicopter medical evacuation ambulance fly into the face of enemy fire, unarmed, to treat, heal, and save wounded American soldiers. Dustoff, the call sign given this mission, has proven to be the most effective and versatile means of treating battlefield casualties. This mission was perfected during the Vietnam War when the helicopter became the primary means of transportation for combat units.

Between 1963 and 1973, Dustoff crews flew nearly half a million missions and evacuated more than 900,000 casualties. Using this strategy, the average DUSTOFF medic treated nearly 2,000 troops in a one-year tour. One-third of all DUSTOFF Medics were killed or wounded. All members of DUSTOFF crews were volunteers.
10% Of The Journalist In Iraq Were Killed
After 64 journalists were killed in Iraq in 2006, Reporters Without Borders has described the country as "the world's most dangerous" for the media.
    What was that again?
