no surprise that hitsugaya ranked so high - the usual cool child prodigy character in a manga aimed at kids. i *am* surprised at grimmjow ranking so high though. seriously, almost all the characters in bleach suffer from under-development, due to *massive flood* of new ones every arc.

you guessed right, it was Hitsugaya!!!!!!

Different fandoms? Uchiha Sasuke is #1 in Japan, and he's hated by most of the Western fandom. I can also mention popularity polls from TYPE-Moon as another example. In the West, the most popular characters tend to be Tohno Akiha (from Tsukihime) and Tohsaka Rin (from Fate/stay night); yet, in Japan, Arcueid (Tsukihime) and Saber (Fate/stay night) have remained number 1 in the polls (the later are not as popular in the West as the former two).
