    Default ichigo and kido

i think that ichigo should at least learn some basic kido spell like lighting that byakuya use against him so it will help him to get his rank like other captain .
also when he use bankai he has a lot of power why not use kido as the effect will be greater if the user is strong ?
spell caster type rather than agile type ?

ichigo's control over his spirit power is non existent.
but yeah he could have spent his time better by learning to fight better and using kido instead of learning the mask thing.11 seconds is as good as nothing.

Ichigo's a fighter, not a spellcaster. If he tried to cast a spell, he'll blow himself up just like Renji.

have you seen how long it takes for a Kido spell to be cast? ichigo can kill how many hollows in that moment?

He won't ever use kidou, because it would be a waste of the other strengths that have been bestowed upon him. Why would he rely on something that he's only ever going to be average at (or slightly less than average) when he has extraordinary strength, speed and spiritual pressure that more than make up for it?

think about it this way, if this was an FF rpg, ichigo is like a fighter, ishida is an archer, chad is a beast-thing, orihime is a white mage, rukia is a red mage, hinamori is a black mage and aizen is the big bad bishie boss. It doesn't really make sense for ichigo(a fighter) to use magic. Oh, and people like renji etc fall under NPCs, so it's ok for them to have no distinct class and be somewhat of a mix(in this case, red mage with fighter).

Ishida is more like a paladin than an archer if you look at his overall character rather than just his superficial weapon choice. Contrasts nicely with Ichigo's fighter/barbarian character build.

Regardless, there is no reason for Ichigo to learn kido beyond the movement-type skills because until you get very, very, VERY good at it there are no sufficiently worthwhile offensive spells, and unless you learn to bypass the incantations you can't really use them in combat anyway.

well paladins have healing abilities, while ishida doesn't plus he insists on using bows only, even your sig says so, he has a perfectly good sword, yet he decides to shoot it from his bow instead of swinging it

Paladin's signature magic ability is smite, actually. And who says Ishida can't heal? He's never been shown doing it, sure, but we didn't expect he could use kido-type skills either until his battles vs. Mayuri and Ryuken demanded them. I'd be more surprised if there AREN'T Quincy healing abilities.

Also you forget, under the D&D model weapon selection is not the determining trait of most classes. Aside from those few whose class actually restricts their weapon selection (such as those weird druids that can't use metal) everyone can be proficient in every type of weapon. Rangers are the class traditionally identified with bows, but they could use swords or lances just as easily. Ishida's character does not fit the ranger archetype either, being modeled on a crusader, aka paladin.
