I don't think The ichigo being Kaien's incarnation a good plot twist, I think it sucks, its not only too predictable but also cheesy.

also this probably has been suggested before but i think Ichigo should Learn Kido(demon arts)..

We've seen one panel of Kaien's face - am I missing spoilers, or would it make sense to assume that this is possibly an Arankaru who looks differently but is taking the form of Kaien because he's fighting Rukia? And it isn't Kaien after all? I don't know, that seems suspicious to me - Kaien was merged with a Hollow, but they DIED, and since the Hollow ate other Shinigami, wouldn't it therefore be a combination of lots of Shinigami?

And the thing about looking like a Vaizard is bull, it looks human, but so do Ulquiorra and Grimmjaw, etc. Speaking of which, Ulquiorra was damn cool in this chapter, I love him~

Ichigo's so strong already that anything below 90s-level spells would be a waste of time for him, and those presumably take years of study to learn. Not a reasonable field for him to commit himself to, I'm afraid.

Hollow Kaein doesn't have any mask fragments on his head, hence the vizard speculation.

Not what I meant. He has a full mask, which he can remove (and presumably put back on), no broken mask piece attacked to his face, and no facial marking/tattoo.

    From this:

    and this:

We can tell that they all have a broken mask and most have an (presumably) artificial facial marking (which some of the former Espada, like Cirucci; and deceased Espada, like Luppi and even regular swordless arrancar, like Nell also had).

As for your other point, the hollow was killed after merging with Kaien, presumably he could have chosen to exist the body under normal conditions (he suggested that he did the same thing to other shinigami and he left corpses, logically if he did both he had to have exited the body at some point). This would suggest that the maneuver was only used as a form of defense and to weaken the host shinigami (he doesn't actually kill the shinigami while he's inside).

Who votes Orihime smashed her hand when she slapped Ulquiorra?

Bingo. Arrancar are defined by their torn away masks, it's what their name means (Arrancar: to rip off). Vizard are defined by the masks that they possess, but can put on and remove at will. It's quite possible that we are looking at a hollow-side controlled vizard who maintains his shinigami body.

First of all, fanboyism, and blaim that conclusion from the bad wording: I was refering to "this is a pretty damn good plot twist" as the unsupported claim in this specific thread. Just the image of Kaien's face at the end of the chapter. Whether or not it's actually him.

Second, Byakuya, Ukitake, and Rukia all had flashbacks to Kaien when seeing Ichigo, and much more importantly, when watching how he acts. It's like of like saying, please...please forgive the reference here, (Inuyasha)that if Kagome wasn't said to be Kikyo from the beginning (a hundred...billion...times) then it would be fanboyism to make the distinction that she and Kikyo were the same person as long as the exact reasons were never specified point-per-point. (And you'd have to change the "resurrection episode" to "close enough match" instead of "same soul")

I don't see any reason to write off the theory other than it's "uncool" right now to support it.

EDIT: Ah, and if I am going to start/add to a theory here: Does anyone think that it might be even possible for an Arrancar to reach a point of Universal transition through...unexplained reasons? Simply put, in case of further misunderstandings, that the Hogyoku could possibly embue someone with a "Middle-ground, catchall" form rather than one or the other as a base? That maybe the biggest plot twist of all in Bleach, will be that a human soul always had the potential of acquiring both types of powers and attributes without being subject to their weaknesses?

Or it's just a Vaizard who decided to side with the hollows instead of going with the other Vaizards.

Looking at Ichigo for example, if the Hollow were to be the King the result would be something more Hollow looking than human looking.

Reason to write off the theory: It was inane and baseless from the first day it was invented and has been refuted by canon twice, first when Kaein died and then again this last week. Newsflash: KAEIN NO LONGER EXISTS AS A SEPERATE INDIVIDUAL. They told us this when he was absorbed by that hollow.

Metro: At other points when his hollow has been in control, he has looked human only with a mask on. So it's not a sure thing there either. It's also feasible that he may transform to his full hollow form to fight if necessary.

Now we're starting to define a different kind of "Fanboyism" here. They've never stated what kind of afterlife they have past Soul Society or Hueco Mundo. Hell, it's practically stated that they don't even know, all they know is that there are souls within their spiritual forms. (Aizen's "Corpse" Chapter - Unohana said this herself) So it's simply opinion to refute it, just as much as it is to support it.
