    How to explain this?

OK, this all relates to the mask as a symbol of a hollow's controlling killer instinct. When a hollow's mask is broken, they are no longer totally controlled by this instinct (as shown by Sora Inoue among others). The hogyoku is simply an artifact which allows this process to be done more easily and completely.

The difference between an arrancar and a vizard is that while a vizard is a shinigami who can tap into their hollow side's killer instinct and power by putting on a mask, an arrancar is a blend of both with no division. You fuse your shinigami and hollow powers to become an arrancar, you keep them seperate but accessible to be a vizard.

    It does matter.

Arrancar forms all have one unifying body. Hollows all have one unifying body. Menos Grande has one unifying body, but is made up of different hollows put into one.

If they were purified, where would the other hollows that made the Menos go to? The question is whether or not the Hollows spirits become one with the menos, or they all seperate.

In other words, you're bringing up the theological issue from Buddhism as to what happens when a Jellyfish (or other, similar organisms that are actually colonial in their structure) dies. The answer is that no one knows, nor should we care, nor should we expect it to be explained.

Elnino: Hell seems to have been ignored after its initial appearance. Whether that should be interpeted as a retconning out of the series, or evidence that none of the later hollows and arrancar were sufficiently evil, or something else entirely, we have no way of knowing.

I was actually hoping that Hell would come into play after Aizen is thrashed with some shounen mojo. After all the Uber-hollow vastrodes, espaadas, arrancars, and whatever are destroyed, the seiries would continue when demons from hell attack, who would,of course, have 500 times the reiatsu of an espaada. The heros would have to do some training, reach the next level, get stronger to protect their friends, kill enemies to prove their own existence, Kenpachi will achieve bankai, and whalla.........another two years of bleach chapters.
