Thread: For anyone with this DCCSERVER Error...

If after typing "/dccserver +s on ##" where ## is the port number it gave you like 2032 or something, you still get this error, make sure you turn off hostmasking.

/msg hostserv off

Actually it's because I'm a dumbass and I had this problem like for an entire month since no answers ever seemed to show up in google when I googled the problem. Also because this sub-forum is really empty. And finally because all those damn IRC guides never mentioned the hostserv thing (which goes along with nickserv, chanserv and botserv and probably a million others I don't know or want to know about.)

I'm not an expert on IRC, but it might be possible that you have some type of firewall or NAT program that's masking your real IP address using a fake one, making it so the bot can't connect. HOWEVER, Since I'm not much into IRC of XDCC I don't know if the bot sends you a connect request, or you send the bot a request. Someone who's an expert of DCC post here please

When you XDCC a bot, it's you sending the bot a request. At least, that's what I've been told. I do this a lot, but I don't really understand all the mechanics of it since I've never run an XDCC bot or even an FSERVE.
