WinXP SP2 has a TCP connection limit built in to slow down the spread of worms. Really it doesn't do shit to slow down the spread. It does, however, slow down BT and other such filesharing programs that use many connections at once.
Oh, you turned uPnP off in the BT program, right?

that is to stop windows' wireless zero service after i'm connected to the network.
i added two shortcuts to the start menu:
one for "start wzc": c:\windows\system32\net.exe start wzcsvc
another for "stop wzc": c:\windows\system32\net.exe stop wzcsvc
the start wzc would be used in the case of a legitimate connection drop to get back on, then stop wzc again.
