Thread: Openign ports

i been told that i cant download from any P2P software(limewire, bittorent, ect) becouse my cable company have that stuff blocked. But someone at work told me that i could stop them from doing this by opening ports but i quit the job before he explained me how to do this ><. Can someone plz tell me or point me into a guide of how to open the ports so i can download manga not just from direct links? ty

It can depend on what kind of router you have. For example I have Sagem Livebox F@st and I can open the ports by getting into settings.
Then I go to "Lan servers" and I write the following (this is an example)
Name : BitComet (it's not important how will you name it - for each program you need to do something like this)
Security : Open
Protocol : TCP (or UDP - depends on program)
Port : (number which you can find in settings of the program you want to open ports for)

...but some other's are far more difficult.

i have a motorola: SB5101 SURFboard Cable modem, no idea how to enter into the setttings T-T
