    1) www.mirc.com
    download it.

    2) install.

    3) open

    4) server type irc.irchighway.net As for nickname, use whatever you want.

    5) press connect

    6) type /nickserv register PASSWORD E-MAIL where PASSWORD is the nickname password you wish to use (something hard to guess and easy to remember) and E-MAIL is a *working* e-mail address. A confirmation code will be sent to you via e-mail. Go to your inbox and retrieve it, confirming your nickname as fast as possible, because the confirmation code will expire after a while. It will usually be something like /nickserv auth CONFIRMATIONCODE where CONFIRMATIONCODE is... the confirmation code.

    7) type /join #lurk in the server window

    go open a website. www.gotlurk.net

    9) search for the manga you want. click on the # which should bring you to a message like /msg Wandabot xdcc send #33

    10) paste that message into the lurk channel. Enjoy.

Download the newest version of mIRC.

Yes, there are torrent sites that you can download movies from.
    click this link

and for the last question, it depends, for me it's IRC since torrents kill my internet. :P

But I guess torrents are better for bigger files? I am not sure, I never used torrents that much, the only times I used torrent was to download a couple of music albums and a few movies, it was slow as hell.

But yeah, if torrent has a lot of people sending = good speed, if not so many = (very) bad speed, could take days to dl something, on IRC it's about the sender's internet connection and the upload speed.

Cant say wich is better, it varies. *shrug*

(or then I am totally wrong. )

    ok, this will/may be a stupid question, i know, but i gotta make sure of something;

you know how, some people (noobs, if you're mean) have problems with their download speed when downloading with torrent right? now to fix that, all it takes is to change some settings and such, and the download speed will increase.

for me, i've been wondering if the settings for irc woul also affect this?

y'see, 2 months ago, before my Lucille (my laptop) suffered from a spoiled hard disk which requires me to change it (and losing gigs worth of manga, anime, porn, bookmarks, and even program settings), d/l via irc was great. eventhough others complained that the bots were slow, mine still kept a good speed.

after all that, i had to d/l mirc again and change the set-up accordingly again to d/l manga. my d/l speed was slow. i remembered following a guide (to d/l manga via irc) word by word and made a few random adjustments 2 years ago, and it came out well. now, i made no adjustments, aside that from the guide, and it kinda flopped.

sure, i considered it'd be the bots being slow or something or its my connection, but i just wanna make sure: is there some specific settings that would increase my d/l speed on irc?
    Do I have to?

The 'changed settings' you speak of for BitTorrent are forwarding the ports on your router.

So theoretically, yes, if you configure your IRC client to download using ports that are specific, you can forward those ports in your router and increase the speed.

    Edit:
Wait, well... it increases bit torrent speed because it allows for more connection, not necessarily better connections. If you can make a connection with IRC, I'm not sure forwarding the ports will actually help. Let me look this up, I'm second guessing myself now. XD

    Edit2:
Ok, well port forwarding DOES help IRC, but it typically helps more for sending files than receiving. But shit... can't hurt to try.
    Vol~

    thanks to Silverwmoon!
