Thread: Slan & Guts

there are many examples of Slan's personal interest in Guts, in fact every time she meets him she comments on him while the rest of the godhand seems rather indifferent. is it love, lust, or does she just want to use him? it's quite a coincidence that the only female member of the godhand has taken a shine to him, so I dont think she has plans to use him for anything but sex or love. their encounter in qulipnoth, though disguting and vile, was actually quite romantic. I'd like to learn more about the godhand because since they are not god himself, they must have their weaknesses. perhaps Slan is lonely. if I were Guts, I'd go for it. she's gorgeous when she's not made of entrails.

Keep in mind, she's a mostly ethereal god-like being who sacrificed people to become what she is and apperantly centers herself around her sexuality. Add that to their common life/death theme and you get a strictly one night stand.

It is a good questions though, she seems to have plans of her own that go beyond their ultimate goal - maybe it's like she said: she's just tired of floating around and waiting for the end to come.

I think it's just mainly her character, as the only female God hand she just flaunts her sexuality because she can. The fact that all the other female characters (other then the amnesia Caska) drool over Gutts lets Slan act sarcastically romantic. Not sure if the right word would be sarcastic, more like sadistic.

Summary: Don't see a love relationship happening here.

Quite frankly, I would agree that she was basicly a succubus. Her dream was probably to be the "fairest in the land" and then she had acid or something spilt all over her. Who knows, she could of been the original witch and burned at the stake. Meh, in the short, no Guts/Slan pairing. Guts wouldn't stand for it anyways... the wings are a dead give away.

I don't believe, it is possible. Buuuut... to connect this question with the fact that Guts does posses a behelit... Maybe she would try to put him in a situation to become an Apostle!? Perhaps it's exactly her wish to be "the fairest in the land" which makes her want to know every man can be seduced by her... and if Guts doesn't like her (which is obvious), she would put many efforts in it --> try to make him an Apostle
Not very likely to happen, but who knows? In the beginning you also didn't think, Guts will be followed by so many kinds

Actually, I thought Guts needed others. I'll admidt that the "bad-ass-swordsman-that-is-insane" did draw me in a bit, but the artwork was originally the seller. Then we got into his backstory, and I realized what the mangaka was trying to say. Guts needed others in his life, and although he didn't look for them, he found them. And the cycle repeats. I will go along that if she is a succubuss that she would try to "tame" Guts. However, I think Guts will never willingly go to that extreame. She might, but Guts in the end is only a mortal, so there is a chance that she'll just do the pout, heal stomp, bring the castle (or local equivalent) down on his head, and leave him alone.
