Default Guts will have an evil twin?

Looking back at the scene were the beast of darkness mimicked Guts' face, could this foreshadow that Guts may end up facing the beast in a more physical confrontation they previously thought?

Alright, people, who here can deal with the idea of Guts getting a evil twin that is in fact the beast of darkness given it's own flesh and blood body, a body that looks exactly look Guts? Something that may very well happen because Guts wanted it to. I think he'd see it as the best way to do away with it without delay, instead of worrying about it slowly eating at him from the inside; he'd be able to deal with it the same and best way he's known how to deal with all his enemies: With force. It'd also be a comparable to how Griffith became reborn as a human again in that sense.

Griffith expelled his old feelings toward his comrades so that he'd could continue his dream, Guts would expel his hatred in order to free himself from it in order to keep it from threatening his Casca and his new comrades. Guts gets an new enemy to face, one that may prove to be deadlier then others in the past, without getting in the way of the plot on Griffith's side of things too soon.

I don't know about an external manifestation of the Jackal. I can't see it. More likely of a chance that his body will get taken over and he will have to face himself inside himself.

I think as well that Guts will have to face this opponent inside himself.

Why? Because it would be way too easy to place the opponent outside of Guts. His character (as well as many others) are made complicated, and I think it's on purpose. The characters are experiencing changes, and - more important - are experiencing inner conflicts. So, why should the writer put "the animal" from inside of Guts to his outside and make it so easy for him? The animal is created to make out of Guts a "living" character. If not, he would be only a fighting machine. That's what the writer doesn't want (I guess).
    Just my thoughts.

What about Guts actually BECOMING the Jackal's physical form? I think that there's a distinct possibility that the Jackal's prophecy will come true and something will happen in the future to change Guts' mental state once more, at least until his new "family" comes after him to try and bring him back to his senses. This manga needs a bit more drama and character development right now, maybe that's how it will happen?

Both fighting against his inner animal(sounds Bleach), and Gutts transforming into the Jackal sounds Naruto, that's why I hope neither happens.

I don't think the "evil twin" thing is quite right. The battle (imo) is supposed to be internal. However a couple of good ideas struck me while reading the posts here. First, I can see the author doing a StarWars moment here, and while they are on the Elf Island, Guts having to face someone, only to find out it is another side of himself. I also can see the conflict happening after Caska remembers what happens, and that forces Guts to go "boom." Latter the group catches up to him, and he must face his fears or else end up killing everyone that he cares for (simular to what Griffith did, but without reason).

I wasn't talking about turning INTO a jackal but about Guts having a mental breakdown of sorts and returning to his old ways temporarily (which is what the Jackal prophecised), and probably having some sort of redemption arc for Guts. Either that, or it leads directly to the ending of the manga.

^Oh ok, gladly. I think no one wants him to turn into the jackal. Now I get what you mean and it is a plausible option.

^^I agree also. it has to be a more internal battle than an external one. however i feel that a physical transformation may occur because of it
