Thread: How long will we keep reading?

Lemme start off by saying I LOVE berserk, don't get me wrong, but my intrest in this manga is SLIGHTLY dissapating. I still love the battle scenes, but Berserk is starting to focus more on the wacky side characters then the theme of Gatts and his revenge.
Whenever the manga starts focusing on a different timeline/flashback/side character story, I start to think that maybe this manga is going south. I'm acctually starting to think it might be best to put it down for now and wait until the series is finished to pick it up again.
A lot of newer and more promising manga titles and animes are coming up, and while I still love Berserk, I'm not checking my computer every twelve seconds like I used to just to find out if the latest chapter has come or not.
Don't get me wrong, I WANT to finish the manga, but we're already past the 250 mark and the story isn't even NEARLY over, it's been a good 17 (or is it 18 now?) years since Berserk started and showing no signs of ending.
So my question to you, is how much longer will you read berserk? Will you put it down if it lasts longer then two more years, or will you request in your will that the latest issue be buried with your corpse?
Personally if I don't see a gap within the story in the next two years then I'm probably gonna call it quits. What about you?

Simply put; I'll continue reading it as long as it's being produced; and then some.

Whether or not it's going on hill is a matter of opinion, and if you actually paid attention to even the Arc names, you'd have realized that his "revenge" aspect has long, long, long since become secondary, if not tertiary, in comparison to his other goals. Revenge just isn't fun anymore when you start losing what little you have left and start becoming that which you hate.

Thirdly, I'm glad there's a story out there that isn't afraid to let it's page number go on for nearly ever to accomplish a detailed story. This isn't Bleach, this isn't Naruto, this isn't even One Piece (which is closer than the other two), we've known the score since the first few volumes, we've learned of his past in 11 volumes, we got to see him be all badass berserker-wise after that; Hell, we even saw him single-handedly defeat an angel-apostle. If it's not branching out to "Now I must fight the Pseudo-GodHand! Power up to the max!" then I don't have a problem with it taking this long.

berserk will end someday like one piece and naruto too

but even if that day is in 10 - 30 years i will still read it

i dont think that i will ever loose my excitement about mangas

i surely cannot read them frequently when i have a wife, a job and kids but i'll still read them from time to time

I'll keep reading untill it ends. When I have money to buy the books I'll buy them.

And about the reasent character growth with less braindead slaughter, I just love it. Due to the fact that all more main characters in the manga are growing. And that it is a heckofalot harder to write about than some fuck who's just angry all the time. (There is a good reason of why the golden age are is the most popular in the manga, and it is all the feelings etc, in it.)

And please, add "until the manga is finnished" to your options in the poll, as otherwise i can't vote.

I'll keep reading it until it's finished, and then maybe another read through later on.

I'm not sure of the direction the manga is taking at the moment, but I'm still so hopelessly addicted to it regardless.

To be honest... I don't care if it'll take forever, I will read it until Serpico and Guts give it another go at each other and if they don't... Then the manga won't be complete when it's finished.

I'm not a big fan of Serpico, he's not an important character nor does he really add ANYTHING to the story. Personally the only reason I see him as a main character is to act as a buffer and protect caska/fairnese from any monsters that would go after them instead of Gats, if Gats was still by himself he'd have probably killed twice as many demons, but that's just the way I see it, I read plenty of other mangas full of multiple character development and I like them, but I much prefered Gats when he was solo and only with one or two sidekicks to bask in his glory.

Actually, without accessing my pride or favoritism to think about Serpico versus Guts.

Serpico with his Feather Blade would obliterate Guts if he were to attack from behind or just outside of guts reach. Hense why we didn't see it during the previous fight.

ye me 2, but i guess it cant be helped.
now that he has friends he's rather going to protect them instead of fighting their enemies even if they are nearby (like the story at the harbor)

sadly serpico's only purpose is to stay behind and protect the others while Guts is fighting. he is neither a friend of guts nor has he anything to do with his story. his character is needs some development
