In all honesty, I didn't even notice that. If anything, I'll take the obvious road: The last thing his right eye ever saw was Griffith's new form, born of his dead comrades, raping the one he loves.
Unless I'm mistaken, we've seen him grab his right eye early on when he saw Femto, or while thinking of Griffith.
That's his left eye, not his right eye.

no im pretty sure thats his right eye, after all you can see his nose on the top of the panel as well as the fact that the eyebrow turns down to the bottom of the panel
No natural eyebrow goes upwards.....
Nice fake image.
I don't suffer from insanity... I ENJOY EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!!
Fake?
Anyway. At first glance it looks like the right eye. But, I think it is because of the fade to black, it gives the impression that it is the other. Hence the shadowing from the nose.
Hard to say.

If it were his right eyelid opening, there wouldn't be any eye in there for us to see. It was his left eye, and it simply shows Guts fading into unconsciousness.
That shading on the top of the panel isn't Guts' nose, it's the blood smeared down the side of his left cheek (as seen in the top panel).
Also, the thickest part of Guts' eyebrows are towards the middle, next to the bridge of his nose. If you noticed that, then you'd realise that his nose is off the bottom of the panel.
what the heck..if i didnt see this topic i wouldnt notice that i miss that chapter..lolz
it seems i already read that part i just forgot lolz....anyways it is the left yet not the right...

Perhaps his eye was never really damaged. I mean if the monster's nail did pierce his eye, there should have been a frame dedicated to showing the monster's finger stuck right in his eye socket. Guts' constant closing of his right eye may have been voluntary.
My opinion is that making him open his right eye there, so vaguely that you really have to analyze the picture to make sure if it is or isn't his right eye would be ridiculous. It would be both logical and, if not for some paranoid people, apparent that he's just fading away into unconsciuosness. This is just my thoughts on how a good storyteller would tell a story.
I must admit that, when looking at it closely, it does look like the other eye, but that does not seem likely when looking at the bigger picture.
