It's not only mangatoshokan, onemanga is going to be closing soon as well. The announcement comes up as soon as you load the page.

I think the real issue is server/site owners being hit with a certain provision of the Copyright Act which allows for huge amounts of damages ($150k/violation) which is what you really have to be worried about.

afaik they just sent out cease and desist orders, I don't think there's any lawsuit going on

Mangatoshokan for example just received a "remove our manga" request with a list that was basically half of the manga they have or more, so they decided to remove all of them and specialize in manhwa e chinese mangas (dunno the name of those)

If that is the case then there is nothing to be worried about. If they go after site owners though that is what you have to fear. Normally I would not be worried but with large sites dropping left and right I am a bit worried.

from what I remember from past news about the Digital Comic Association (the ones behind all this crapstorm) they got really pissed to huge commercial scanlation aggregators making money out of the scans (so yeah, I got the feeling that NarutoFan is on the list for the joy of all) and also...

"Publishers for their part have stated they are under no illusions about the impossibility of stamping out piracy completely, but that commercial sites hosting vast amounts of scanlated manga simply tip the balance of convenience too far in favour of free and online."
(^^^ that's from a news from today over at sankakucomplex)

trying to find more infos around anyway

from what I found it seems that they said:

" It is our sincere hope that offending sites will take it upon themselves to immediately cease their activities. Where this is not the case, however, we will seek injunctive relief and statutory damages."

considering that I tend to believe that the rumors that state they just sent cease and desist orders are true.
Also there seem to be NO news of any lawsuit to any scanlation website (excluding a totally unrelated one where the guy dared post Marvel and DC scans online :P)

PS: sorry for the double post but I needed the 5th post to be able to post the link

Continue updating us with these useful info pal.. ^_^

@Kevin Shiel and to the rest of the guy keep up the good work in maintaining this site. This site has been my all time favorite. I hope it keeps going on forever.. ^_^ I dont know what I'm gonna do to feed my manga addiction if we get hit by this..

Maybe keeping below the radar would also be a best choice now.
