Thread: I've been out 5 years...

...and now I've returned to the scene, finding torrents, direct download, dozens (hundreds?) of sites... Wow, how the scene changed!

So I've started searching for manga, updating old series I've left behind 5 years ago, trying new ones. Among other places, I've crossed by narutofan.com. I've downloaded lots of volumes from there, although I don't pay any subscription.

I've checked out this forum (google is my friend) because of a specific manga I was searching. I've decided to take a look at the forum and I find a specific board about "bashing Tazmo". What the hell is that? - I thought. It seems Tazmo is one of the narutofan.com site owners.

The complaints I've found, can be summarized like this:

1. Makes people pay for other people's work
2. Makes people pay for a service people can find for free.
3. He doesn't tell what he makes with the money earning through his site.

Well, I don't know all facts, still updating myself about the manga scene, but I must say I don't understand all this stop tazmo thing:

1. He earns money with the downloading service he provides. Bandwidth costs money and having all volumes available in DDL and organized is something people are willing to pay for. So you are not paying the contents, just the delivering service.

2. It's true. And Tazmo provides this service for free. In my experience, I've been able to download any manga, with the only downside being a 30 second delay between downloads, for FREE. Anyway, what's wrong about him making available in a more convenient way lots of manga? Tazmo doesn't make it look like it's the only source of manga. And people know that. They just don't want the hassle of browsing dozens of sites, torrents, IRC, etc... And are willing to pay for it. I don't, but I understand who does.

3. What he earns with a service he provides is no one's business.

I'm just trying to understand this. I don't wish to start any flames, so bear me.

Ok, I can understand if he was still asking for donations and he was using it for other purposes and lying, which he may have. I can understand the other issues people had with trying to delete their Narutofan Plus! accounts. But what I can't understand is what the real argument is here! I have NEVER paid one red cent to Narutofan, Bleachworld or any of its affiliates, but just about anything that I want is available for free.

I don't know why it's wrong to offer advanced services and direct downloads to whoever is willing to pay for them. I'm not, but some people are. To say what he does is illegal is to not recognize that fansubbing in all modes and then making them available for download ANYWHERE is also illegal. I remember when people were willing to pay at $5 per fansubbed DBZ movie, movies that were subbed by other people! Now, he puts them together on a neat little site where you can directly download them at high speeds from servers that he PAYS for, so I can't really grasp the logic. If there's a site that offers everything he offers in one place for free, please let me know. Besides realitylapse.com, I don't know a place that hosts free Animes.

Isn't asking for donations and touting that "your site might be shut down" without the donations really worse?

My pop-up blocker works, I get my stuff from his site for free. The way I see it, Tazmo's been bringing together free stuff for me for a long time.

No, but we bash him for taking credit for manga he didn't translated himself - he erases credit pages and takes what not his as his - so there.

Do you have any specific examples of what Manga he's done this to? Because I've downloaded several Volumes from both this website and his and I really don't see this at all...

Bleach and One Piece - I remember Bikantropia making a fake chapter just for the reason to pay back Tazmo - also one of the groups made a anti-Tazmo credit, but I heard he cutted it out as well.

Ask any scanlation group what they think about Tazmo - they surely know more since they do the chapters.

why don't you just go and get your free manga from tazmo, where most of the stuff needs a premium account.

if you want to get anime dl and manga organized per volume, just learn how to use the irc (is not that difficult you know), but you should at least pay a little respect to the ones that bring you the scanlation for free, and that means not supporting people who is practically stealing others work.

My only beaf with this Tazmo character is the fact he deletes the credits for fansubs, obviously taking the credit. Other than that, if i wanted to pay for manga i'd just buy it from a bookstore. Manga are hella alot cheaper than american comics (B/W ink is much cheaper than collor). Doesn't get much more organized than the actual volume, and much better quality pictures than most fansub groups.

I think I read somewhere of him mentioning He Recruited professional translators with the money he gotten from membership fees to scan the mangas he obviously uploaded after taking out the credits page. I think thats what humans this day and age calls Fraud
