Default Stopping tazmo...or at least slowing him down considerably

I was thinking, I think it might slow down tazmo considerably, and also hamper the quality of his rip-offs if you released your releases in a multi-page .pdf format. I haven't looked into it, but I believe the editing and importing of pdf's can be locked with password protection using Acrobat Pro. This way, at the very most, Tazmo could only take screenshots of a pdf, and those won't have anywhere near the quality of a regular release. Any thoughts?

Hmmmmm - and how do we all get to know the password without some loyal NF fanatic leaking it out to Tazmo? Once Tazmo knows the password its no better than password-locking the pdf to begin with.

The password is not for accessing the pdf, only protecting against editing or importing. You can of course set a password for reading the pdf, but then it would be just as you described. Readers don't need to know the edit/import password in order to read it. Only the scanlation group would know it, and can keep it to themselves.

It is a good idea. But it really is as easy as the "Print Screen" / "Apple, shift, 3" button, followed by a little photoshopping.

But as you did say it would only slow him down. Which is very true. But atleast he would be one of the last to make a release.

That would depend on how good of a password it is. Follow the simple rules: No dictionary words, mix numbers, letters, and symbols. Now if it tries to brute force it's way in, it'll take a while.

If you're thinking of some simple program that can figure out the password by looking through the bit code for the pdf, I don't believe they would work. Do you really think Adobe would make it that easy to figure that information out?

Only way its possible is to not release the raws at all & stop scanlations.

I wonder if someone will ever hack his site, has it happened before?

There are products out there that EASILY remove passwords from PDF's in a matter of nanoseconds . I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for tazmo to find the tool to do this.
