It's faster than DD, and if everyone shares each archive he downloads, we'll have a lot of alternate users to download from. I've been using DC++ for some years and it can be a great way to distribute manga.

To share files, you just have to go to settings > sharing. Add all folders you want to share, and then select how much slots for uploading you'll have.

I also have a suggestion. If everyone shares the files exactly as they where downloaded, we can use "search for alternates" to find more archives like the one we selected.

    Default routers

There are two ways to unblock ports with a router. But before that, check to make sure your OS dosent have its firewall enabled and blocking 411. To connect to your router check your ip information in network settings and copy paste the router ip into your web browser. generaly its something like 192.168.1.1 The easiest way to unblock the ports is looking for an option called DMZ and setting that to your ip, it should be in the security tab. This unblocks all ports for that specific ip. The second way is to Look for the Port Fowarding Tab. in there type 411 in the port to foward box and in the other boxes your ip and 411. There is a problem with both cases though. If you restart your computer and it gets another ip. then you will have to change the ip in the setting to the new one. One way around this is to have the router use DHCP with manual ip, so you give yourself the same ip each time.

Well I don't know what's up with the hub but this is the first hub where search wouldn't work for me and get file list wouldn't connect. And I don't have any firewalls at all.

Make sure to read the message when you first login. Try switching from passive to active or from active to passive.

nice move with setting up dc hub

i can't connect at the moment,so i don't know is my admin blocking ports again or the hub is down
i dont know what program are you using for hosting hub(i think i saw Open DC hub),but i was using ynhub and in that program one can set it up so that hub can work on multiple ports(for example 411,1411,5555,etc...) so that if network admins blocks port 411,you can allways connect on some other port.
maybe open dc has some similar options

Just a question, I'm running behind a router and I know my IP doesn't work with the program, how do I find my "external IP"?

well you need to do some more than connect.
my tip is to first rightcklick the hub and "add to favourites"

you will also need share something which you do in: file, settings, sharing. Also when you tell DC to share something it will need to "hash" it and if its a very big file youre sharing it might give you major lag, dont close the program just give it like 5 minutes and all will be fine.
in settings you should also set connection type, active or passive membership (people with firewall and such problems might have to set it to passive like me) and set uppload slots to 5<--- this is not necesarry but many hubs will require you do to so.

on a final note: im not certain that zipped files are faster to download. The DL speeds tend to dropp drastically within the first seconds and if you only download one image at a time the high speed will go up and download the image almost instant (this is only true for a bit better connections though)

that last thing might just be my imagination though... and i would not be in the mood to zip 25+ GiB of Manga anyways O.o

i will have to agree but that is becasue DC is a filesharing engine while IRC is originally a chat program if im not entirely wrong (im very unaddapt at IRC)

    edit:

did you try to set status : passive, it might work. im passive and i never had to write my IP anywhere in DC.

<all of this is assuming you are running DC++ 0.674>
