But Viz is pretty much the forerunner there, with JumpAlpha. Looks like it doesn't run half bad, since they're expanding to India, IIRC.
For it to become the future, the Manga publishers will have to turn into the MPAA. They will have to start suing visitors who read the content of various Manga sites, scare people into it, and at the same time promote Netflix like services to get people to pay, shutting down the sites that release the content for free and getting the owners slapped with fines.

I did, and many many years ago I had small collections of Manga listed as a mirror using MediaFire. The issue though was it was a pain to upload with, I had to keep checking links and re-uploading deleted files. It would be a lot more work to Manage the 500GB in Manga that we did have previously and even then it was very hard the last 3 months+ to get any donations due to our PayPal account being closed, and even with the account, assuming no server expenses, I would not make the amount of money I'd need to keep the site going. It's just not an option unless I were to find a way to force people to signup, and I could make a decent amount of money to pay my bills, which I do not see happening.

I get the point you are making about my signature, changed from read/download to talk about. It's funny that both ST/Lurk closed for the same reason, a lack of donations even as both of us were huge in our peak, but at least you were a member of both. I'm sure there will be others to replace us, there already are actually but I think at some point there is going to be a lot of fewer sites since most Manga/Anime sites do not generate any real form of income which is the sad thing.

I'm thankful for your time you invest to these side and moooooore, sometimes its worth to help , and I'm ashamed that I didn't help when you needed it , I though that you have enough of members who are willing to pay for your hard work - not for mangas but you time you spend to make it possible for others too read it, that is what it should be paid for. I'm sorry that I didn't treasure your work more and was stingy, cose it was my firs side of download manga and I always come back well even if its fore long time of absence and still will come back. So I'm thankful for this side, it opened my world of manga and it still will have spacial place in my heard and Im one more time sorry of the cause I/we let happened.

It's great to see another long time member posting here even though by your post count you were not too active on the forums! I know that a lot of people who came here did not have much money so I can't blame people for not really donating. I felt though that if some people were able to donate a dollar here or there, due to our number of visitors, I could retire or something but for the last year or two I did not get enough money to pay the server bills which was very sad. At this point in time I've moved to other projects and in a way I'm glad I don't have to spend so much time collecting manga. The first thing I did when I woke up was collect manga, same in the afternoon/evening, and then upload since my connection was slow I had to do it most of the day. It was strange for a while having extra hours in my day. There is no need to feel bad for not donating, but I'm glad that it opened your world to all the various manga that exist out there.

So it's been awhile since I've been here, as I didn't realize the site had stopped serving manga. I go through phases, so I've been in an off phase for some time now. Is it still too late to bring things back if there were some donations I could make? You said it would take 100/month to keep the site alive I believe, I could donate a portion of that, although current circumstances would keep me from donating the whole amount. Also were I you, I would look into accepting some cryptocurrencies if you brought things back. Perhaps some bitcoin, litecoin, dogecoin or whatever other coins you feel would be worth accepting.

I thing the isue is to found a free site that can afford the DB of those manga downloads, do it by a secure ftp download base or multiple free accounts on upload servers, all we know, but use pass encode comprissed files with only initials or codenamed to dodge the smelling dogs that are inflicting so much damage to our fan world. It's good know from severe people that follow mangas that a Frisco officce bureau it's rastreating USA licensed manga, if they have located you then you are lost, your accounts in danger an your site, probably banned or closed. It's a fight between rights to read fansubed translations an the law of copyright, but this isue it's a winned battled when you put only the ones don't licensed in your origin country, that's all!! "for cultural purpouse" - like Nuku Nuku - it's a good banner to confront the laws adversities, local bureaus can support your rights to put tranlating material on the Net. Those certified documents can help you to fight some legal policies from the websites server traders.

I'm sorry to came an see a decay in the manga fansubed world, your support was so much to many people you can't imagine at all.

    Thanks and go up!!

A member will be a member, allways! Poor words endeed, but your web was a clear manga sancta sanctorum, but no justice in the laws had profanated it.

I'll follow you in a time, hopping all come back ;D

    Greetings! And thanks to you.

I know a lot of people reading this are going to ask a few things so I'd like to address them again. 1. The manga is gone because no one donated. I could have paid the bills on my own but it's time for me to move on and if 200-400k unique visitors a month could not chip in $100 for a server, it tells me the site was not worth it to continue maintaining. 2. I've already tried ads, just does not convert. 3. No we cannot accept PayPal. Our friends account was closed long ago due to DMCA's. I think that this might be it for ST. The server bill is due on the 19th but I will see about moving us to a shared hosting account now that our site is tiny. I HOPE THAT YOU WILL ALL CONTINUE TO VISIT AND POST ON ST.
