I do not mind losing all the money I did on this site but it's better than I reinvest my time into a project that will lead to a better future for myself and I just can't see it running a Manga site that makes no money and requires time. I did try to publicize our donation status, but I just figured people either had no money or did not care so I let it be.

The thing about dumping the Manga somewhere is I have about 500GB, although I think we are at 200GB that remains public in the 480 or so series that we have on the site, it would still require someone to seed 500GB+ Manga, meaning myself and that is just too much to do. I can't see anyone doing it, it will be better for people to head to other Manga sites to get their fix. All this manga really does require dedicated hard drives.
Set up a seedbox? Those are like 10 pounds a month.

What about setting up an Amazon referral link? I imagine many members here buy quite a lot from Amazon already if you can get a cut and use that money to run the website?

Anyway, I feel like people don't donate because they have little reason to. They can freeride til the end of time. If you make the download requirement more stringent perhaps people would be more wiling to donate?

I don't know much about seedboxes but I doubt I could get a 500GB+ seedbox for $10/m. If we could, honestly I am not sure that would change much for me. I don't see much money being made from Amazon, most of our visitors have contacted me via PM, contact forum and some have even posted in other threads about not having money. Right now people can't even send a gift card and you can get those all over the place. I've only received one gift card within the last 2-3 months along with 2 Bitcoin donations. There are two reasons for the shutdown, financial is the first. I could make more money off some flash sites/proxy sites than this site. The second is my career/time. I really need to start investing more time learning skills that I can put on a resume and it's time for me to exit the Anime/Manga community.

I'd like to thank you for your advice/feedback but the time has come for me to move on. Many of our older members have done the same and I am next in line.

Yes, it will be great to keep in touch through the forum, good luck on your new projects with Python (not sure what that is for), i'm also a programmer but with C# and .Net so I know exactly why you are doing this.

    Cheers,
    JM.

I'll keep the forum going as long as I see some activity. It's great to hear there is another professional coder on this forum too .

last time i was here it was alright (a year ago) now... well it's alright I guess I may not be of any help but please keep this site running It's nice to have people who try to supply free manga free of charge despite the stress it causes, and troubles they may face.

Default This was the manga forum when I was still in my youth!

hmmm, there was a time, years ago. When online manga reader was still too rare to find. When there were too much scanlators for Naruto. When scanlators sites only provided Megaupload and/or Rapidshare links (or IRC). When there were only a few alternatives to some shitty sites like narutofan or other Tazmo-like. For students like me, who didnt have much money to spend (not to mention premium filesharing sites), this site is really a gift from heaven.
Because this site is too good to be true, I tried to contribute to this site by posting in its forum. That time was fun.
And then, later on college, I dont have really much free time for mangas and online live because of study and work, but I gave a look on this site sometimes and this site has much member and much posts than when I was active. I became an inactive member.
Some years later, there are many online reader sites, and downloading has been much easier than before, because of steady scanlation groups, a lot of mirroring (and torrents), and bigger bandwidths in general.
Then not so long ago, I came back to this site, looking for Pastel (which is relatively hard to find) and noticed that this site is far more quiet now. So sad but true.
I guess cutting the manga download because of financial problem is a legit reason to cut the bandwidth. We had fun in here, but we didnt really care about the dark side of this site maintenance. We cant really force you to bleed, while we have nothing to give in return.
I really hope the best for you and this site. Thanks for your tireless effort these years.

But then again, i guess that explains why some mangas were stopped updated like Btooom!, Denpa Kyousahi and a few others. Even now, Ah! My Goddess has stop update as well. That was the one manga i thought would continue indefinitely.
