I am really sad to hear this, I can't thank you enough for everything you've done, I used this site since 2006 but not regularly, I didn't know about the financial status of the site before, I have an idea though, why don't you launch a kickstarter to fund the site, you can make the first kickstarter campaign to fund the first 6 months or so and then more people will know about the site through kickstarter and more donators will come to the site, and if you don't have the time you can make it so that the funding campaign will cover the expenses of a new site administrator, I don't think there's anything to lose if the kickstarter isn't successful, as I said I can't thank you enough for everything you've done here, I wish you the best in your future whether you decide to keep this site or not, take care and good luck.

You....do know that it is kind of illegal to host manga which you haven't paid for, don't you?

I know Canvas + Node.js are popular, something to put on a resume but probably more of a tool for web designers. I'm more of I'll take this template, edit it and then get to the real programming work, the kind of stuff most people never see, they just hit a button and everything works, I guess you can say I'm a backend guy. I know there is a big demand for CouchDB, so I'm going to be playing with that for sure, but at the moment when I was testing/comparing things it really did seem that CouchDB being more for "occasionally changing data" is true and the data I'm working with is changing all the time. I'll have to do more testing but I've got a lot of projects so it might take me a bit before I can get back to CouchDB and give things another try once I get a larger dataset.

I was also thinking about making an App for ST, would not be too hard but the issue is money. I can't see ST users paying much, especially with PayPal terminating us. I mean I right now I am accepting BitCoin and Gift Cards, and so far this month, 25 days in, 0 donations. That is the reason I am looking at exiting this site/manga community. I need a site that generates money, not consumes it.

Because of the content of our site, more of downloads and hosting copyrighted works, we would get booted from Kickstarter, even if they did somehow approve our campaign at first.

I do not see Manga sites really making much money in the long run. I've tried ads in the past and a huge part of me feels like it is time to move on. I could make some Pizza money by running this site but not much more.

I'll be sorry to see this site go. As others have mentioned here though, it has been coming for a while.
Thanks for all your hard work, time and money that you've invested here over the years, Kane. Good luck for the future.

They'd probably get wind of this and delete the content. Happens all the time when they find copyrighted material uploaded.
