Server/Donation Status [December 2007]
As many of you already know we have been having server issues, and the end result was us asking for donations to help cover the cost of additional hardware expenses. FDC does not have any more SATA drives in stock, so we will have to wait until next week for our hardware to come in.
We currently do an easy 100mbps all day long. This is over 32,000gb’s of bandwidth every month.
Right now our server expenses run close to $999/m. The ads that we have on our site only pay for about ~$500 on a good month. We have tried almost every sponsor out there, and we are left with little options. Most of the time I am the one paying the remaining server bills, which are normally between $500 and $600.
No longer can I afford to do this. I know many of you don’t want to see us turn into a site that offers a premium service, and I have one last option, and that’s to try one last time to get donations to start coming in. We tried this before and never made much from donations.
What I am going to do is this. I am going to start posting exactly what we need each month, and if I have to pay out of my own pocket more than $50 for the server for two months in a row, I am going to start offering a premium service for this site to help cover the server costs, and the costs of upgrades. I have worked on this site for over a year now, releasing updates every two days, I should not have to spend so much money to keep it going.
I am going to post what we need for this month below.
Total Server Expenses: $999
Total Ads Revenue: ~$500
Need to Collect: $500
Total Donations This Month: $699
FUNDS NEEDED: $0 MORE FOR December
I will update the total amount of funds we need as they come in. If you don’t want to see us launch a premium service, make sure to encourage others to donate.
HOW DO YOU DONATE? CLICK ON THE PAYPAL BUTTON AT THE TOP OF THIS SITE!

Possible Solution to the Funding Issue
I don't know if you're aware of this, but there is a way to use gmail as an infinite storage device online.
Aside from that there are other sites such as megaupload.com that provide free space for whatever you so desire to place up there so other people can download them. Be it manga or music or whatever.
I think using megaupload or sendspace to link the site visitors to the manga content stored there would be the cheapest and effective way to save you money and still get paid via the ads you place up on the site.
This is a link to some music that a site placed up for their theme songs. It's very simple and easy to access. Which are a plus for you considering it's also cost effective.
As a second opinion, I think you should offer premium services. Simple because I think it would be cool for Premium Members to be the ones with exclusive rights to download multiple manga files at once from your site (well maybe at a limit of three downloads to prevent traffic).
I would like to thank the person that donated $400 to us, I never expected to see such a high amount before and I would like to thank you for your generous donations.
i don't think sites like megaupload.com is such a good idea... its hard to download from those sites... well almost impossible to download actually. i think the payment for using that site will be a waste of money...
